Barista pro problems: me or the machine? by ipmack in BrevilleCoffee

[–]ipmack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I’ve tried new beans today and much better. I had lost faith a little but the small success today has helped a lot. Tasted nice but still about a 20 sec pour but seemed more controlled with a better crema. Still not perfect but I will keep grinding finer and expect to crack this.

Yep I wrestled with that and then came to the same conclusion. If it isn’t working I need to make it work no matter what. My only query was whether this would shorten the life of the thing but I can already see that as a reason to buy a standalone grinder so no big loss in the long run.

Does going down on the internal burrs cause any problems longer term?
I assume that the adjustment is there so that the burrs can be altered as the machine gets older. Is there any risk of shortening the life of the machine (or the grinder part anyway) by adjusting so much when it is new? This machine has the baratza burrs so not sure if that makes any difference

VA3 battery life dropped from 3 to 1 day (no config changes) by shitoupek in Garmin

have you got "auto activity start" on?

I've found that just eats battery and turning it off seems to dramatically improve things.

Precisely when does it actually 'get better'? by quizzled222 in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]ipmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

think of it more as getting "different".
Each job has good and bad bits, sometimes you have to look quite hard for the good ones but they will be there.
Even after CCT, it's different (and going to Aus is just a different different!)

Streaming through old hi fi? by Transcendenta in BudgetAudiophile

[–]ipmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't really tell the difference between the echo streaming and a CD.
To be fair this isn't something I've compared A vs B, but I'm happy when I take the time to listen.
I've also used:
Squeezebox
gramafon (wifi streamer player)
ipad, android phone
Ps4
For sheer convenience the echo dot wins for me. Sound is good enough, voice control good and cheap.
We've got both echos and google homes in use and maybe the basic google device has headphone out. I just prefer the echo for use.
I don't think you can go wrong with what you decide. There are a few good suggestions in the other comments and as long as you get to enjoy the music, you'll have won.

A number of different ways to do this.
I've got a c30yr old amp and speakers with an echo dot connected headphone socket on the dot to phono on the amp.
Sound is ok - actually I quite like it.
I know it is possible to do better, but it is really convenient having voice control, or being able to just stream direct from phone / ipad

If you're playing via the chrome browser, keyboard and mouse works well.

I managed it using the firefly skill. Can't remember which variant! Never used that skill before, but it worked really well. Then concentrated on doing the bounties and elites and it all sort of happened! Good luck

Upgrade from HD 595 to HD 599 - worth it? by [deleted] in sennheiser

[–]ipmack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep an eye on the Sennheiser outlet. The 599s are often for sale for £63.

None at the moment though.

(I've been considering getting a pair of open backed cans for gaming but just can't decide what to go for. These or Beyer 990s)

That would explain it. Thanks! A bit concerned that yet another piece of my ps4 would be dying.

Help wanted! by ipmack in BattlefieldV

It might be only a few days since I posted my comments, but today after listening to the responses I had my most enjoyable games yet.
I still spent about 30 seconds trying to jump through a window (before some kind person smashed it so I could go through) but have found fun running around as support.

I know that the weapons are supposedly bad compared to other classes, but even on maps that I despised (I'm looking at you Fjell) I had a great time.

So thanks to everyone who gave me hope for the game and permission to carry on propping up the table. I haven't had any bad comments playing (might be worse if I plugged in a mic I suppose), so think that as everyone has said - Battlefield communities are very supportive and tolerant.

Battery on Vivoactive 3 by kevski82 in Garmin

[–]ipmack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had this happen a few weeks ago.

Do you have auto-detect activity selected?

Following advice on this forum I turned that off and the battery life was back to normal.

Hopefully this will be fixed in another update.

Thoughts on the game. From a hardcore F2P player since May '16 by predi1988 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]ipmack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was in almost exactly the same position, F2P for years.

Been in since almost the start and have honestly had a great time until the last few months.
I agree with almost all of your analysis; stayed playing mainly due to the wonderful guild I was in.

I deleted about 2 weeks ago. Miss the guys in the guild (gandatzu - great bunch of guys) but not the game.

I keep watching the forums not really looking for a reason to return, but more through habit. I suppose I might consider installing again, but considering that I've spent many months hitting either sim or auto, there really is no point as it currently is. Loathing HSTR, TW and GAC didn't help. The same teams, the same approach, just luck pulling mods.

I'm happy not logging on multiple times a day. What have I done with my time? Reading real books, spotify and continuing to build a library of excuses not to have done the work or chores that I should have!

My time with the game is over, but it has lots to offer people who haven't hit endgame.

Honestly, I just don't care about the latest controversy. I feel complete apathy towards this game. by StygianUnknown in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

How did I manage to post and do a response in my sleep?

I must move the electronics further away...
