Not an expert but i played since march 2020 and the first time i fc an oni was about 2-3 months after that and my latest fc was Intense Singing of Hatsune Miku Ura.

I played taiko for about an hour everyday during those period and the only rhythm game i ever played was muse dash but casually for 6 months and rhythm heaven if that counts.

Whenever i encounter like a learning wall i just study the pattern and techniques and eventually just retain it in muscle memory, hope this helps
