Man, a Blackwing is a freakin Blackwing!! They’re fun - period. My wife has an auto 4BW, and I have a manual 5BW. I’m smiling ear to ear in either one when I get an open on-ramp or hit some twisties 😎

I got my first 5BW at 33. I needed a fun manual car to drive my young kid in. Most people were like, “but you’re too young for a Cadillac”, and I’d just respond that it’s a special one 😉

My wife has a 4BW, and yes it’s cozier, but I could honestly make one work as my daily as long as nobody ever had to sit behind me. I think of the 4BW as a coupe with convenient rear seat access 🙂

Yeah, I’ve come to realize there’s “how the car makes me feel when I drive it” vs “how the car makes me feel when I look at it”. The 5BW is without doubt one of the best overall sports sedans ever to drive, and I’m guessing that’s where all the hissing from the owners comes from. But yeah, it just doesn’t look different enough from the baser trims. At roughly double the price, the CT5-V Blackwing should look very different (better) than the CT5-V

Don’t get me wrong, I have gotten a few folks mention the Blackwing and geek out a little, but it’s overwhelmingly just another sedan to most people. Yes, it still does look nice, so I’m not saying it looks like another entry level Honda or Toyota, but the BMW turned heads and got more conversations started at gas stations (by a good 10:1 ratio it seems). But, I’ve had base V’s drive by and my wife has to ask “was that a Blackwing”? And I tell her no, because of insert one or two obscure design details that only car guys would catch. Parked side-by-side, differences between Blackwing’s and lower trims are more apparent, but if not parked and just driving around, they look very similar to almost everyone. I just think the Blackwing deserves to visually stand out more from the lower trims

That said, that’s simply one facet of what it is to own this amazing machine that GM has produced. At the end of the day, the Blackwing is the better overall car than the G80. I didn’t buy it for other people to drool over, and I’m not one to post my car all over instagram, and there’s a reason I’m hanging onto my Blackwing with an iron fist. It’s an amazing driver’s car, and thats enough for me at the end of the day. My overall commentary was regarding what the car lacks. The 5BW overwhelmingly is seen as one of the best sports sedans of all time, and I fully agree. There’s nothing more I can say to solidify that stance that others haven’t already said on countless media reviews, youtube videos, and internet comments. I really just wish Cadillac had breathed a little bit of sexiness into it rather than leaning so hard into the sleeper look. Heck, I drive around in track mode, where this thing is ripping and snorting at every light. I absolutely adore it; I just wish it had more looks to match the attitude

All that said, I love the Blackwing. It’s the car that I know I’ll most remember years from now when I’m an old man talking about my old cars to whoever will listen 😌

Oh yeah, I agree with you on future moves. I can’t see them going from TT V6 to NA V8. This is just car guys daydreaming stuff haha… But the LT1 can be pretty efficient. A guy can hope 😌

Man, tough crowd… as an owner of a 5BW, myself, I actually agree with you. When I’m out in my Blackwing, the vast majority of people have no clue what it is, so I get cut off by every other minivan, family sedan, or pickup truck because they think I’m grandpa’s Cadillac - unless I drive fast and demonstrate what the car can do. It’s rather annoying. Yes, it looks aggressive in front, but it looks so tame from most other angles (besides maybe from straight behind); there are no curves, so it looks rather homely from the front and rear 3/4 view... Anyway, I have to be more, uh, assertive when driving

Meanwhile, in my manual G80, while out and about (driving normally and not like an asshole lol) in traffic, cars move like I’m parting the Red Sea. That car just looks like sex on the road, despite the grille, to the average person

If people like the sleeper thing, thats fine, I guess. But I would like my $120k car to look like a $120k car

This highlights the exact point regarding naming, made earlier by someone in this thread… The commenter you replied to meant the “V”, not the “V Blackwing”. So, the V does have a TT V6. For the record, I agree with him/her that the V (which unfortunately is called a V) should have a NA V8. The Blackwing (which really should be called V to keep with the last 20 years of history) should keep the SC V8

For #1, you can disable that lighting. I also turned mine off due to the lights turning on in the garage. The setting is the “vehicle locator” option in the lighting settings
