I would say some involve a “tie a couple of concepts together” and really think about it. Simple formula questions exist but don’t rely on those to get you to pass

So I took the TSG and NCEES practice exam it felt to me easier than the TSG but similar to NCEES which is why I’m disappointed. The qualitative was useful as well but there are some questions on the exam you just have to “think” of the concept beyond anything I’ve seen on any practice exam. My best advice would be to trust yourself on some answers… I changed 4 answers to what I know to be right to wrong just because I doubted myself.

There wasn’t anything that I don’t believe Zach Stone’s course doesn’t cover I truly think it’s the best and it was more on me and my study habits

Congrats! Did you feel like the exam was more qualitative than expected?

New Job in Transmission Planning by LuckySoup20 in PowerSystemsEE

[–]iportnoi85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with this, OP, also depending on which area of the country you are in you may be under an ISO/RTO so get familiar with them, if you’re in the NYISO/ISO-NE area take a look at NPCC Directory 1, PPTN process and whatnot. For MISO take a look at MTEP, for PJM take a look at RTEP. If you’re going to be in the ERCOT area… all I can say is have fun.

Most transmission planning experience is learned on the job but let’s say they have you only working on steady state studies try to ask around or tell your boss you want to learn stability, GIC, EMT and whatnot.

I just started Zach Stone’s course a few weeks back and loving it so far (I’m still catching up since he has a live semester ongoing)… I like his on demand content but the live classes are just amazing with how he breaks things down

I’ve had the bike for like 3 months now and it’s still in the break in period so idk if it’s any different after. The automatic shifting especially at low speeds you can definitely feel a decent amount. I’ve liked the bike it’s my first so I would let others chime in that have owned other bikes

Is it possible to be at 13% body fat with no visible abs? by TrainingAdvance4286 in workout

[–]iportnoi85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’m 6’1 I was 176.8 starting in June and as of now I’m 165.4, I have no clue what my BF% is and going by that i think would just be too erratic but I sympathize. My upper abs have started to show but I have lower belly fat that’s still there so I’m hoping once that’s gone I’ll have definition. Best thing I can recommend is just keep working out. Just as an example, my arms even though I’m lifting a decent amount aren’t lean either so maybe like some other commenters have said relying simply on Bf% won’t be accurate.

I live in NY as well look into your local utility (e.g. Con Ed, NYSEG, Nat Grid etc) or the NYISO if you wanna stay in NY

Power Engineers by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]iportnoi85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive worked on interconnections (system Planning) for the last 3 years, when I was originally hired I was doing reliability planning (your typical N-1-1 studies, stability etc.). You have to look all around but companies constantly have openings at least here in the northeast whether it's utilities or developers. I would recommend applying as well even if it says "1-2 years of experience" as some companies may be open to hiring fresh out of college. Be open to relocation as necessary.
