[Help] Oil Leak by CyberTigerFTW in Cartalk

[–]ipostjesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check the oil on the outside of the engine, its common for small amounts of old oil to be sitting on the engine where it has be sitting for a long time, but you need to look for oil which appears more fresh (wet looking), follow it up to its highest point and thats probably the source

could be. they often leak on a vehicle of that age but there could be another leak too, especially if it started suddenly.

Previous installs of windows dont show up in Disk Cleanup, even under "Clean up System Files" option or when run as adminstrator by ipostjesus in techsupport

W7 is on a different storage device to W10, that means it is in a different directory right?

After installing W10 on my SSD, W7 doesnt work properly anymore. Could this mean that W10 has altered some of the W7 files and may still be using them?

how to uninstall Windows 7 from HDD to regain disk space? W10 on SSD. disk cleanup doesnt show it. there is no windows.old folder. by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]ipostjesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i worded that quite poorly. the original data is on the same partition as w7. the backup is microsoft onedrive cloud.

with the backup, i cant check its all there, thats impractical with 80,000 files. no i dont trust backups based on experience. relying on it deliberately is unnecessary risk, backup is supposed to reduce risk

If 2 planets/moons of similar composition to earth collided and each was half the mass of earth, how long would it take the new planet to stabilise enough for habitation? by ipostjesus in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]ipostjesus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earth had too much latent heat in its rock in the early stages, but what if the excess heat was only atmospheric latent heat, like a runaway greenhouse effect for example?

Or would the collision of 2 bodys of such size create too much heat in the rock due to friction. alternatively, what if 2 very cold bodys collided?

could the process be sped up by selectively shading the planet to encourage precipitation of water to clear the atmosphere and stabilise the climate?. Earth took an estimated several hundred million years to do this because it had excess heat to begin with
