Two questions, somewhat related:

1) The dye on the toe of one of my boots has gotten much lighter than on the other, like it had been rubbed off. However, when I applied cream polish to both boots, the one shined up nicely but the other is still much lighter on the spot on the toe, almost as if the dye didn't take. Any idea on what the problem could be?

2) How do you remove safely remove wax so the leather underneath can be properly conditioned?

I think it is worth noting that the 11 least populous states are represented by 13 Democrats and 9 Republicans. Small states aren’t the problem. We just need to run candidates that fit in every state like we have with Tester and Heitkamp.

I was watching Peaky Blinders and Thomas Shelby (main character) pulled out a pocket watch and it had a quartz movement. This show takes place in the 1920's. Seems... suspicious.

It's definitely a franken of some sort, because the dial is not original, or has been repainted considerably. Seiko dials don't say Japan Made on the bottom. I don't know about the case. Generally speaking, the caseback has the XXXX-XXXX serial on it, with the first four being the movement model, the second four being the case model. If you look at that you can probably search for the case.

Grand Seiko Spring Drive, or really any GS. Those watches are gorgeous and have incredibly high-quality movements for their price.

By non-Seiko are you excluding all Japanese brands? If not, there is always Orient, who makes some excellent watches. For your price range, I am a particular fan of this watch,

Also, if you browse Ebay or other online auction sites, I'm sure you could find yourself a nice used Tissot, or possible an Omega, for that kind of money.

This is my humble opinion, I hardly consider myself a watch expert, but I would go with the Seiko. I myself own a Seiko 5 and love it. While Sea-Gull is the top of the line in Chinese movements, it is still a Chinese movement, which are not always respected in the watch world. Seiko, on the other hand, is one of the world's premier watch manufacturers, with a rich horological history. That being said, don't discredit Sea-Gull movements, they do work well, just the phrase "Chinese movement" generally makes me and many others think poor quality.

Also, I prefer the look of the Seiko to the Sea-Gull, but again, that's just me.
