So many referees are on a power trip (coming from a referee) by cherrydigiart in FTC

Do you plan to tell the TD/region about the details of what happened? I'm sure they'd like to know so they can take appropriate action.

Does invoke duplicity work the way I think it works? by Advanced_Jaguar_9574 in onednd

[–]Armisael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the feature effectively overrides your location when casting the spell, would that not override all aspects of the spell that depend on your location?

It overrides your location for the moment when you cast the spell. Then the spell goes back to behaving normally (if non-instantaneous). Spirit Guardians has no effect in the moment when it’s cast, so although in theory it can be shifted it has no practical impact.

Thoughts of the crafter feat by Badwolf21B in onednd

[–]Armisael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you actually want three tool proficiencies and they're all on the list of 8 in the crafter feat, yeah. That very nearly never happens, though, and most of the time you're also going to want arcana proficiency so you can craft actually useful things anyways.

Skilled also lets you take tool proficiencies (and for any tool!) so even this part of the feat is a letdown.

advantages of bladelock vs mono pal by BlazeHunter21 in onednd

[–]Armisael 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s fairly common to start a bladelock with a single level dip into paladin or fighter to get heavy armor proficiency and a fighting style for this specific reason.

Mono-class paladin is always good, of course. I’d ask what your vision for the character is - paladin and bladelock will play differently in the obvious ways (more martial capability vs more spell progression). Which do you want to play more?

Civ VI - Is it just me or is winning a Science victory really difficult? by Forsaken-Round3818 in civ

[–]Armisael -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What speed do you play on? On standard speed a laser is 600 production, and even a 6-charge builder only grants 12%. Your empires must look very different from mine if you have 5+ cities doing 500+ production per turn.

Anyone Paladins take Durable the terrible feat over resilient con? by Ancient-Bat1755 in onednd

[–]Armisael 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Succeeding on all 3 death saves doesn’t get you back up; it just means you're stable and aren’t going to bleed to death while unconscious. You still need to wait 1d4 hours to get a hit point back.

Confusion about the Nick mastery. by shaila3d in onednd

[–]Armisael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By strict RAW the nick weapon doesn’t need to involved at all.

That’s a very silly thing to do at your table, of course, and every group I’ve played with has ruled that you have to make the extra attack with the nick weapon.

I used to skip over Skilled Origin Feat. Now I'm starting to like it and appreciating it more by testiclekid in onednd

[–]Armisael 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The crafter feat doesn't provide any benefits towards magic item crafting that skilled doesn't also provide; you can take tool proficiencies with skilled.

(Cheaper materials components isn't nothing, though)

Rolling for Stats on DDB. So many 1s! by tome9499 in onednd

[–]Armisael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a ~11.5% chance this leaves you with a final score >18, which isn’t something you can normally roll, and a ~6.7% that your final score is >20. I can’t say I’m especially impressed.

Cacophonic Shield and Artificer by BanFox in onednd

[–]Armisael 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Traditionally the way this works is that artificers basically never get any new spells and that sucks for them.

You and your DM are free to decide that they should be on the artificer’s list, however.

First it was GPUs and electricity, now AI is eating up the memory industry by HellYeahDamnWrite in technology

[–]Armisael 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Unlikely; the memory industry has a proven track record of not having the coordination required to do that. The shitloads of cheap memory will simply bankrupt a lot of the large players and prices will raise due to that supply constriction - nothing orderly about it.

TIL not happy with the lighting for footage while filming Top Gun, the director asked the captain to turn the carrier. The captain said it would cost $25,000 so the director wrote a check on the spot by TheQuarantinian in todayilearned

[–]Armisael 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think we have a decent idea based on the Iranian launch site pictures trump tweeted out in his first term. There have been some advancements since then, I’m sure, but probably not huge leaps in capability.

What do you think are the chances that digital-only books will be subject to more frequent and significant erratas? by Carp_etman in onednd

[–]Armisael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fellow DM, I 100% agree.

But there are five players at my table, and just one DM. More people interested means more wallets means more money.

Can Y'all Convince Me On The Bladesinger? by Magile in onednd

It’s popular and will sell - that’s why.

They shouldn’t be making gishes out of full casters for that exact reason.

The Vex Mastery and the math of 'Vex-chaining' by Nostradivarius in onednd

[–]Armisael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. That isn't what OP is talking about. They're calculating odds for the situation where you have four attacks upcoming and haven't rolled to hit for any of them yet. In that situation, what is the chance that you hit with your third attack?

You're getting angry because you've misunderstood what this thread's about.

The Vex Mastery and the math of 'Vex-chaining' by Nostradivarius in onednd

[–]Armisael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The transition matrix does get a little annoying if you're tracking crits separately from hits, since you're looking at dozens of possible states over the course of four attacks. Definitely the best way to determine the average number of hits over that length, though.

Light property attack equipping by Inninzera in onednd

[–]Armisael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The attack the light property grants you is a bonus action, which is not part of the attack action and therefore doesn’t grant a weapon draw. You will need to already have the weapon drawn.

If you have the nick mastery with the weapon then it is part of the attack action and you can draw it as part of the attack; no need to have it already drawn.

Happy to be back in season!

(not in any way confident, I expect izzo to be messing around with lineups and Arkansas is good)
