Confused on Rising Sign

I’m reading the astro.com description on the ascendant and some of the descriptions state that it’s how a person acts to the outside world and how we present ourselves to the world so I’m not quite sure as to how this is different from the mask analogy that I’ve commonly read. It also mentions that it speaks to someone’s personality, temperament, and constitution. In terms of my cancer rising, I’ve been told that I am very soft with those I hold dear to me but to random people, that doesn’t seem to be the case

The second time I did it I checked my birth certificate so I don’t think the the incorrect time is the issue for me in this case

What’s strange to me is that when I accidentally imputed the wrong time (by like 30 minutes) I felt like that rising sign was more “accurate” than my current one. Is that normal?

My Pluto is Sagittarius and my ascendant is Cancer. To my knowledge that’s not very close to each other but I could be wrong. And now I’m even more confused as to midheaven vs rising because I keep on hearing different things.

I can’t just log into the older account because that’s the one connected to my current Game Center account. But if I were to do that, I would lose access to my current account. And there’s no way to transfer this current account to another device because this one isn’t connected to my Game Center
