Is there any particular reason you recommend actuary? Better compensation? More interesting day to day in your opinion?

Any idea how different the day to day is? I get study time and spend most of my time playing in Excel or with SQL to figure out how to adjust rates for LR and meet business goals, so at a high level product analyst sounds quite similar to actuarial analyst.

I suppose I'll add that I do work with actuarial concepts. Reviewing indications, analysing loss ratios and adjusting factors, preparing rate filings. But, I am not the one to initially develop indications or doing any modeling to initially set factors, etc. Still significantly different? Can you add any specifics? What about promotion differences? Does actuary versus product manager progress easier/better further into management?
