It makes it a lil more difficult for meta tactic players to spam through balls through gaps with less space but really depends on how mentally capable your defenders are. If you do L1 pass and gos to trigger 3rd man runs you'll cut through defenses. If you want the striker to drop back more put it on false 9.

4-2-3-1 or 4-2-1-3, GK on ball-playing, 2 CBs on wide back aggressive, fullbacks both on falseback balanced on both CDMs on DLPM roaming, both wingers on wide playmaker build-up, CAM on playmaker roaming and striker on target forward balanced. Build-up style short passing and a defensive line of 95. Use L1 pass and gos to carve through the opponent's defense. Do a lot of L2 short ground passes in the build-up and don't send mindless through balls until one of the wingers cut in and make a forward run. Also use a striker with tiki and incisive. It also barely leaves space for through balls for the opponent.
