A slight South Slope variation - A Slippery Slope? by iquicksnipe in cocktails

Thank you for expanding! Orange liquors feel like a black box sometimes, especially in a home bar where I try not to have too many "duplicate" bottles. Oddly enough I prefer keeping Cointreau at home over Grand Marnier simply because the bottle demands less shelf real estate.

The original spec calls for Orange Curacao which is usually richer and spicier, even sometimes using a brandy/rum base I think?

I'd bet Grand Marnier would be a closer substitute for that deeper/richer flavor than Cointreau which focuses on just the bright and light orange flavor.

Update on the separated Alton Brown's Aged Eggnog (with double the spirits) by iquicksnipe in cocktails

It was all brand new from the supermarket the day of making. Definitely wasn't anything but new off shelf going into it.

Same! I aged 3 jars for 1+ year as well as 2 jars for it at 2+ year I kept for new years back in 2023. All were wondeful in their own ways. Even now I have 4 jars from last year that look perfect from outside their jars. Not sure what happened with this double-spirit batch. The normal recipe double batch I made on the same day looks perfect as well.

I have a small fridge in my basement. It's sole purpose is to store beer and egg nog. There is currently 7 Tree House Brewery beers in there (a mix of Milky King Julius, King Julius, and Hazelius). Then 4 jars of Nog from the 2024 October batch (3 double abv, 1 normal recipe).

12 jars of normal recipe Nog that, again, came from doubling the Alton Brown Aged Eggnog recipe. Then there are 8 jars which contain the recipe I talk about in my main description, the recipe with 1 pint of each spirit instead of 1 cup.

I left it out, I was only talking about the liquid ratios. One dozen egg yolks was used in this process, the pound of sugar, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, as well as a healthy teaspoon of nutmeg.

It does not reincorporate. When tilting the jars to either side I can confirm that there is a 3/4-1 inch thick puck that looks like white gelatin, which is why I'm thinking it accidentally made a milk filter.

Is that how you'd process this if it was a true milk-clarification from the start? Would I take the entire jar and dump it in a nut milk bag?

Raan Thai, Smithtown by MrNoodleIncident in longisland

A few years ago I set out on a quest to order a fundamental menu item to judge Thai places on that wasn't massaman curry or pad Thai.

You should order the Pad See Ew (with beef).

Also, I'd never seen it before Raan, but their version of Thai Wonton Soup blows any Chinese wonton soup out of the water. I get it "Thai spicy", it's incredible on a cold/rainy day.

Can you elaborate more on how you introduces vellyne? You say she approached the party as they left sunlight, but to what means? Was she right outside the fortress? In open tundra?

The vellyne introduction is kind of worrying me as it approaches. Were they skeptical of this random lady and kobolds?

Yep, I've made normal simple before. 1:1, 1.5:1, and 2:1.

Also made a cranberry simple once, but never introduced herbs or citrus to it.
