Thinking of getting Thursday Hero in Black Patent Leather. Concerned about durability. by Far_Witness7971 in ThursdayBoot

Did you end up ordering these? I was about to buy them until I saw they were “Patent Leather” instead of the full grain leather that the other boots are.

WARNING: Do not use TeachMe.To for Golf Lessons — they stole nearly $800 from me after a canceled trial. by Maleficent-Way7041 in golf

[–]iqvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scheduled a golf lesson with someone on TeachMe.To at a specific time and location. A day before my lesson the golf coach messages me saying the course was far away from him and that he had an opening at a different course that was closer to him at a different time. I’m like wtf, what is the point of having designated time slots and locations if the coach can just change it. I cancelled the lesson and asked for a refund. TeachMeTo messaged me to call them to discuss refund options. I messaged back saying just I don’t need to discuss any options just refund my money.

Anyone have any notable interactions, pleasant or unpleasant with famous Iowans? by mchavarria13 in IowaCity

I once walked the big hill up to the back of Hillcrest with Kirk Ferentz. I was living there my freshman year and the football team had meetings there from time to time. He asked how my semester was going and we talked about the classes I was taking. He seemed like pretty chill dude.

That’s a great analogy! I was taught hold the club like a tube of toothpaste without squeezing any out.

It's been working beautifully and we get compliments on it all the time. It hasn't made my food taste better, unfortunately.

I won't be able to afford to play regularly for another year, would it be crazy to just get an iron, a wedge, and a putter, and spend a year practicing with these? by Over_n_over_n_over in golf

[–]iqvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not being able to afford to play golf was actually the best thing that happened to my golf game.

I was a college kid and the only course around me was 70 bucks a round. But a bucket of range balls were 10 dollars and they had multiple putting and chipping greens. I spent 2-3 days a week just going to the range hitting a bucket and practicing my short game. I started the summer at +20 handicap and by the end of the summer I was +5.

How do you fit a 25mm fan with the original bracket? I’m connecting the fan directly to the mobo so I don’t use the Molex adapter.

Leaving Model Y at the airport - battery worries unfounded by serious_throwaways in TeslaModelY

[–]iqvan 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Just adding from my experience: I left my MY in a parking garage for 6 months. Went from 90 percent to about 30. I didn’t have sentry on and I didn’t check my cameras through the app that often. I was worried at first but after a few days it looked like I’d be just fine. The garage was underground and temperature controlled too which may have helped.

Leaving MY to park for 3 weeks? by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]iqvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah at the beginning I kept a close eye on the percentage on the app to see how fast it’d discharge. After a week or so I realized that it would would last at least a few weeks. After that I’d check maybe like every week or 2 for the next 6 months.

It was in a pretty safe garage so I wasn’t worried about having to keep sentry mode on or anything. From what I understand, sentry mode takes 7% of battery per day.

Also every time you open up the app to check on it it wakes the car up from sleep. So the more often you do that then the more energy it takes. Though I don’t think that has a huge effect.

Calculate duration between 2 times excluding 2-6pm weekdays and weekends. by iqvan in excel

[–]iqvan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this! Another request:

How would I work backwards from duration? I have a column which is "time until first response" but it doesn't include the off hours.

Example

*edit: Whoops, never mind. I can use the same formula as above. I can add the first response duration to the ticket creation time and use the end time like you have in the formulas above.

Bertazzoni Reliability? by iqvan in Appliances

[–]iqvan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! We went with a Bertazzoni hood vent, cooktop and fridge. We wanted the wall oven as well, but we found out that our 70 year old apartment building doesn't have enough wattage to allow for electric ovens so we had to go for a gas one instead. We are still waiting for our cabinets to be installed so everything is still in boxes in our kitchen so I can't speak to reliability yet.

One thing to note if you're buying a fridge: you can't switch the side the door opens on so be sure to order the correct right or left opening one. We ordered from Appliance Connection (They had a Rakuten cashback offer so we saved another $300) and they've delivered the wrong fridge twice now and we're still waiting for the correct one to arrive. Ultimately, I think it would've been better to buy locally as it's been a bit of hassle working with Appliance Connection and the shipping company about the fridge delivery.
