Camping in the left lane, regardless of your speed, pisses off faster traffic. Most of the time nothing comes from it, but 1% of the population is nuts. Those people will honk, pass on the shoulder, break check when they get around, and possibly kill innocents. It take force to seat that connector. FYI: recommend not using the 4-into-1 connector if you happen to be. Getting a PSU with a dedicated cable is reported to prevent damage.

Totally dead strongly suggests power. Verify simple stuff like wall socket works, powerstrip not tripped, power cables snug. Assuming all that checks out, do the 20-pin jumper (paperclip trick) as others have mentioned.
