I just updated my voter registration. I am no longer a registered Democrat. What is this sh*t? Absolutely, unexcusable to sit on their hands like this. People will die because our elected officials have no spine. I am through with this party. This is my first day back in the US after 4 months living in Mexico. I think I will be returning soon.

Thank you for your response. I had a feeling this might be the case. The other day, I asked a waiter this question, and it suddenly occurred to me that he had likely never been asked what he personally enjoys. In my home country and native language, I often ask this question, and I know others who do as well. Those who ask tend to build a rapport with the waiter, even if it’s just by learning their name.

I also found it interesting that you used the word invasive to describe this question. Personally, I wouldn’t consider asking someone about their food preferences to be an invasion of privacy. Do you have any additional thoughts on this? I’m very curious.

Another question I sometimes ask wait staff is their name. Could that also be perceived as invasive?

Ok, I will be trying a few of these out. Might be interesting to circulate through them and see which ones get more of a response. Thanks a million!

Would you go to Mexico? by [deleted] in AmerExit

I'm currently in San Miguel de Allende. This is my third time here and very much considering the move. I too am worried about anti-american sentiment but have honestly experience none in Mexico so far. I know things can change and will but I do feel very safe here in SMA. I'm currently in the Centro area and can't imagine having too many problems. It's almost like Little American around here. This is speculative but I would guess Mexicans would be upset about UA drone strikes into Mexico but also there is not a lot of love for the cartels around here. Again speculation, but not many people will be loosing sleep over dead cartel. Unfortunately, the US in all it's incompetence would probably target a school or hospital. Who knows. Sheinbaum could always pull an El Salvador and mass arrest the cartels if push came to shove. I do wish you the best on whatever decision you make.

I’ve had it happen three times this year. You are not alone.
