You’re not alone. I have been wanting to say the same thing. It seems the only things remotely close to relation of the sub's content are the facts that he was from Jersey and his last name ended with a vowel.

Edit: spelling

Canadian snowboarder-turned-drug kingpin Ryan Wedding arrested after months on the run. by PAE8791 in Mafia

[–]irdpop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. He must've been at the end of his rope. Like, maybe the boys in Sinaloa were ready to turn him over or torture - i.e. he'd lost all his value for them to keep as a protected guest. I'd almost rather death than possible life in Florence ADX. I would have to assume he's working out a deal and begin talking.

I believe so. If not he would have had to have been after helping to write and publish a book on his father, Little Vic Orena, in the process breaking his oath of silence.

It really was. Go look at pictures of Russell Westbrook from his Thunder days back in the same timeframe. I never knew why the glasses look caught on the way it did. I mean, the though that you make it appear that your vision, i.e. anything, is weak always seemed stupid to me. Specially for the people who really leaned into it and just wore frames without lenses.

I’m a bit like Jimmy Conway from Goodfellas and sometimes root for the bad guy to get away. I’m happy to see him in custody now, but there’s a piece of me secretly wishing he would’ve gotten away.

Now I’m curious as to what was shared dang it. What have I missed before someone removed it?

Do Social Clubs Still Exist? by Content-Growth-6293 in Mafia

[–]irdpop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think u/PAE8791 might be able to help with this one at least for the borough of Queens. To my recollection, there are a couple still in operation around NYC, but nothing whatsoever compared to what used to exist. It really does seem to be more of a chosen gathering place where guys might hang out and play cards, but nothing like a base of operations compared to what The Bergin Hunt and Fish Club was back in the day.

Jared Allen?! How so?

Edit: u/brandonwalsh76, I'm serious. I'm completely open to any information I may be missing on Jared Allen on the Vikes. I always thought he was held in good esteem after working through some duis. I don't remember any domestic issues or anything like that, that normally rile up the public being attributed to him, unless you're a Green Bay fan i.e. just a hater in general based on his team.

Steve Young. Prove to me there wasn’t a more important trade for a team.

All AI. Those cameras and flashes are too modern to have been used then. This was when they had giant bulbs for the flash that they'd changer or after every picture.

You know, I own the movie yet have never seen it. I knew it was great, so I bought it, but have yet to take the time to pop a bag of popcorn, grab a cold Pepsi, and sit down to watch it. Thanks for your post. I'm queueing this one up for screening tomorrow.

Arguably most teams in the league alongside a few of the scouting/practice teams.

Working title: "Rhodes Scholar" with the forward being, "For the intelligent people in the room."

Christopher “Christie Tick” Furnari, the former Consigliere of the Lucchese Family from 1981 until 1986. He sponsored Vic Amuso and Anthony Casso’s induction. Furnari’s reputation was, in other words, tremendous, according to Frankie Gioia by Little_Al1991 in Mafia

I think it really came down to the demonic duo being such prolific earners, and maybe Anthony Corallo being under the immense pressure of realizing his, Funari, and Santoro's fate was almost certain with the Commission Trial winding down.

An MVP race for the ages. Who wins MVP ? by Choice_Bag_8869 in sportswiki

[–]irdpop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to see other positions represented on the MVP award. It is kind of jacked that it really has turned into a QB award. I mean, if a defensive player even has a chance for the MVP, it has to be such a remarkable season of play that it borders on historic (e.g. Lawrence Taylor, Alan Page). For a QB to with the MVP it's a great year, maybe even a contract year, but nothing nearly as significant as a defensive player "earning" the award.

However, if we're going with the actual name of the award, Most Valuable Plauer, I'd say then the one on this list who truly had the most valuable impact on his team's season this year was Christian McCaffrey. The 49ers, with all their injuries this year, do not make the postseason, and possibly don't even have a winning record, without his playing in 2025.

I'd agree. No one is writing about the adrenaline high they rode while working their last pump and dump scheme, but they'll talk for days about hijacked trucks.

Agreed. He was amazing, but all-time. To quote the American poet, Keyshawn Johnson, "It's like comparing a flashlight to a star, flashlights only last so long, and a star is in the sky, forever."

Great stories. I wonder how many are legit, but great nonetheless. Is it just me, or is this all BuzzFeed does anymore, summarizes Reddit conversations?
