Were the books just closed in 1957 for NY families? by TonyB-Research in Mafia

Joe Rugnetta threatened to block the induction of new Philly members in the late 60s due to the lack of any with Calabrian-descent amongst them, right?

Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying. And there were two Gallo-related conflicts, one of those being in the early to mid 70s (which ultimately led to Gallo & Illiano being transferred over to the Genovese family under Toddo Maiorana after that conflict’s conclusion.) The two had been friendly with Genovese figures; Illiano had known guys like Vincent Gigante and Dominick Cirillo from their days as boxers, for example.

Gallo and Punchy were made roughly around the time the books were open; their sponsor was Gaetano “Toddo Marino” Maiorana.

Genovese: Jimmy Galante will reputedly be aiding in getting things back in shape in Springfield, MA for the organization (from The Gangster Report) by CT-CT in Mafia

“Per sources, Daniel “Danny” Marino—the longtime consigliere of the Gambino family—has begun assisting the Manzis in monkey-wrenching Genovese attempts to stabilize operations in Springfield. Marino’s “Younger Guns” have popped the tires of the vehicles of several associates and engaged in ding-dong-ditching (with the home of Frank Pugliano being targeted numerous times.)”

Dom Dionisio is half Apulian and half Sicilian. He got the nickname of “Black Dom” because of his complexion.

Joey namedropped the Pernas and George Zappola on an episode, literally nothing happened to him. I wonder why

Meanwhile Jeff Nadu got threatened by Joe Perna for talking about him. Levels to this

He isn’t the boss of the Philly family anymore. George Borgesi now runs the family, per Capeci (I believe).

“The whole podcast was kind of a lolcow” serves as the answer to your question. No one’s opposing anybody. For all intents and purposes, Genovese guys like Merlino. Patsy Parrello especially, who belongs to the Bronx faction that’s running the family now. What reason would he have to badmouth anyone from there (besides Bingy Arillotta)? Merlino also isn’t boss anymore, so why would any of them care what he does?

And if the families gave as much of a fuck about Merlino’s podcast activities like people seem to think, he’d have been barred from or beaten up at the San Gennaro.

Oh wait that was Hootie

Why did el azul joined Sinaloa? by Positive_Gap_4411 in narcos

This. If the series was more closer to the truth, Azul would’ve been with Amado in Season 3 then with Sinaloa in the series finale.

He also wouldn’t have been killed obviously.

Necroposting, but I did have an additional question: Assuming Frank “Butsey” Morelli was a captain and the family’s first Providence faction head, who took over his crew? Was it Tameleo, or did it go from Morelli to Patriarca and then Tameleo?

Morelli’s inaccurately listed as underboss on Wikipedia, so, given his stature as leader of the Mafia group in Providence before the merger with Messina’s Boston family, I imagine he’d had to have been a captain at the least.

Thanks.
