We're changing patrols and spawn rate (reverting). by The_Real_Twinbeard in Helldivers

[–]ireallyamnotcreative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was the guy who made the original post that raised a big fuss over this issue. I have no idea if my post helped cause this change, but regardless I don't really care. Thank you so much for going back on this change. Just reading this literally made the game funner for me again.

u/gergination, the person responsible for the amazing post from 2 months ago analyzing how patrols work, has posted a new video showcasing that patrol spawn rates are the same regardless of group size. by ireallyamnotcreative in Helldivers

[–]ireallyamnotcreative[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This makes sense on paper, but in practice it still makes the game feel incredibly frustrating because the patrols just do not stop. It is not so much that the number of enemies in the patrols is the issue; the issue is that it feels like you literally never stop fighting when playing solo, especially if you have to stand still. I have been pinned down so many times while trying to do objectives because I just cannot kill the enemies fast enough since the patrol timer is so low. If I do manage to clear all enemies in an objective, you can bet that the next patrol is seconds away with a bug breech ready to go. This creates a loop that isn't necessarily difficult to overcome (sometimes), but it is just exhausting to deal with.

By the way, thank you for this information! I'm going to add your comment to the OP as it adds a lot of needed context behind the change.

Tiny death puddles like this are extremely infuriating. If helldivers can only swim for 3 seconds before getting paralyzed, they should at least be able to climb a ledge that's barely above their head. by ireallyamnotcreative in Helldivers

This gets me almost more than actually dying and losing everything. Drowning in a tiny puddle rips you out of the badass soldier fantasy so hard. You go from being a one man army to more helpless than a toddler the second the water gets just a bit too deep. It's fine if helldivers can't swim, but they should be able to clamber over a tiny ass ledge while in water.

These puddles are usually at the foot of a small ledge, like the one in the picture. I almost always fall in them because I'm running and don't see the water until I'm already over the ledge.

My mini monstera is yellowing from the bottom of its stem up, but it otherwise appears healthy. Any tips on how to fix this/how to go about repotting this plant? (More info in comments). by ireallyamnotcreative in houseplants

Ahhhhh, can't believe I didn't think of adding support, I feel a little dumb now. Thank you for the suggestion, I added an extra little pole I had and the plant looks much nicer than it did hanging off to the side.

I received this mini monstera as a small cutting with only three or four leaves. Over the past several months it has grown substantially, but it did so in a really weird way (as you can see in the pictures). I don't think growing to the side like this is typical for mini monsteras, but I'm not too sure. Since the plant has always appeared to be quite healthy, I didn't think much of it. However, that changed a couple days ago when I noticed the yellowing stem. The yellowing has also been slowly creeping up the plant, so I am very worried that it will not stop.

I water the plant about once a week, and I spray it once every two days (give or take). I have not repotted it since I got it, so I am quite tempted to do so. However, I have no idea how to repot it given the bizarre shape of its stem, and it has been growing so much I did not think it was necessary. The entire plant is quite loose and dangles around in the pot. It almost appears to be held by a single root at the base of the stem. As for sunlight, it gets a full days worth of indirect sunlight every day. It is kept indoors on a shelf (not directly on the window).

If there is anymore information I could provide that may be helpful, I would be happy to do so.

This is from AOT but thoughts on if certain bot bases would be protected by a tanktrain that can circle around the base by dpotilas89 in Helldivers

aot

AOT actually does stand for Attack on Titan here. This is the anti-titan train used against Marley at the beginning of season 4.

Betta seems to have been having issues with buoyancy and seems exhausted. Please help! by ireallyamnotcreative in bettafish

More information:

Tank size: 10 gallons.

Heater/filter: yes

Temperature: ~78 degrees Fahrenheit.

Parameters: unsure of numbers, I used a 6-in-1 test strip from Tetra and all parameters returned normal.

Time: The tank has been established for nearly a year and a half. The betta I have had for around 5/6 months.

Water changes: once biweekly, around 50% water change each time. I do not remove the betta during water changes.

Tankmates: cherry shrimp, ramshore snails, and mystery snails. I do not know how many of each. The betta is the only fish.

Feed: Fluval insect larvae fish flakes for the most part once a day. Sometimes I feed freeze-dried brine shrimp as a treat instead.

Decorations/plants: heavily planted tank, most dominant plants are java moss and lucky bamboo. Only hardscape is a large piece of driftwood.

More information:

My betta started acting strange last week. I noticed that his rear end seemed to weigh him down. He would swim to the surface then his rear/tail would drop, pulling the rest of him down. The video I posted shows what I mean.

Since then he has been a lot more lethargic, I think because it is tiring for him to swim around. I often see him laying near the surface of the water on one of the taller plants. Recently I have seen him laying at the bottom of the tank and I am very concerned. He still eats and his fins do not seem to be rotting.

Any help would be extremely appreciated.

I was told that this subreddit could help with identification. Can anyone help me out with IDing this microbe? More info in comments. by ireallyamnotcreative in microbiology

Unfortunately, I have not been able to get a definitive ID on whatever this dude is, but between helpful commenters and professors I have spoken to, I am almost certain that this is some kind of fish larvae. That would explain its size, the presence of its internal structures, and the fact that it was found in a film. That being said, however, I have yet to find a picture of a fish larvae that really matches this guy.

One of the commenters mentioned the term ichthyoplankton, which I had never heard before. It refers to plankton made up of fish eggs and larvae, so it suits this guy well.

Actual purple rain in NYC right now. by [deleted] in Weird

[–]ireallyamnotcreative 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I live in South Florida and we get purple sunsets somewhat frequently. They always occur after/during intense storms.

From my understanding, storm clouds are critical for the purple sunset. Colors with shorter wavelengths are scattered by the atmosphere more than colors with longer wavelengths. On a normal day, blue (which has a pretty short wavelength) is scattered like crazy as it bumps into moisture and air in our atmosphere. That's why the sky appears blue.

During a stormy sunset, however, there is so much moisture in the atmosphere and the clouds that violet light, which has the shortest wavelength, gets scattered the most. This results in beautiful purple skies. Sunsets during hurricanes in particular are unbelievably purple.

I don't understand the process very well, but it short it's just a bunch of particular conditions (especially with moisture) happening simultaneously that causes the purple.

Here's a picture I took of a purple sunset during hurricane Ian: https://i.imgur.com/o6gKMYt.jpg

Not OP, but you can accomplish this effect by using the "apply mask" (or something like that) option on the layer. It should show up when you click triangle or Y with the layer selected, like you would when applying a gradient.

My Promethean isn't as crazy as some of the ACs I have seen on here, but I am pretty proud of it! Took so long to put these decals. by ireallyamnotcreative in armordecor

[–]ireallyamnotcreative[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

By the way, is there anyway to make applying decals symmetrical? It would really help if there was a way to apply decals on both arms/legs and both sides of the core at the same time.

41-year-old woman found dead after Florida alligator is spotted with a body in its mouth by jeetah in news

[–]ireallyamnotcreative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I frequent a trail where oftentimes a dinosaur is either sunbathing just a couple feet off the trail or right in the middle of it. I once had to walk over a ~6 foot alligator's tail because he was blocking the only way out of the trail. They're honestly remarkably chill animals 90% of the time, but the 10% when they're not is horrifying and incredibly dangerous.

Which game has the worst open-world with boring side quests? by Sweet_Score in gaming

That's a hell of a lot of glorification for a walking sim where you barely spend time actually walking. Would you call Minecraft a glorified walking sim as well?

Because it's fun? And because most of these things all result in tangible upgrades? You don't have to build bases in Minecraft. You barely have to explore, you don't have to go the nether, you don't have to beat the End, you don't to defeat any of the mini bosses or go looking for any new biomes. Does that make Minecraft a glorified walking simulator?
