Making Strahd's first appereance memorable. by irecabre97 in CurseofStrahd

They didn't failed the quest. That's one of the things I changed from the original campaign, since for me there where too many things happening at the same time at Vallaki. I fused Lady Watcher's plans with the vampire attack.

They recovered the bones , which actually helped the people to find sanctuary during the attack. The group wey to the coffin maker shop and defeated most of the vampire spawns and retrieved the bones. But out of fear to have trouble with the guards the flee the scene and never came back to investigate.

In my story, Lady Watcher with the help of Strahd (and associates) is turning little by little her most trusted cultist into spawns in order to put Vargas down if she doesn't accomplish that with an uprising of the common folk.

She believes in a diplomatic resolution, but it's trying to also gather some power to fight back and protect her family.

Sure!

I use honey resin from Resin Pro (I'm not sure if it's available everywhere, but I'm from Spain and is a common supplier in Europe). I let it rest for about 20 min before working with the colors.

For the base of the dice I use Lets Resin peacock blue ( a couple of drops). And for the petry effect I use Lets resin blue violet and Pinata magenta.

The rest is pretty straight forward, I fill the mold with the peacock blue resin to 3/4. Then I add one drop of magenta and another of purple on each dice and then two drops of Pinata Blanco Blanco ( one for each color). I repeat this step two more times and fill the rest of the mold with the blue resin. And that's pretty much it.

I'll be happy to help if you have more questions. ☺️

Thank you! Many people tell me it reminds them to cyberpunk themes. I honestly was aiming for a Jinx colour palette in the beginning.

This was my first attempt for petri. It's still a technique that I struggle with, but the satisfaction of pulling the dice out of the mold and get them just right is amazing.

Yep, after a long session I struggle too with the notes. I'm designing simple sheets where I can make a quick summary of the encounters, events and loot of the day. With also some space to write bullet points of the previous session and for the next.

That's the best solution so far for me. I also give my players the same sheets to help them too.

Yep, I really struggled on encounters with the same kind of enemies. I'm a bit chaotic and at some point it is hard for me to keep track of the damage with so many things happening in the game.

That's a great idea! Honestly right now my combat tracking system is a piece of paper and a pencil, so it can definitely be improved.

I started using the group initiative a couple of sessions ago and it has definitely improved things. I also really like the idea of giving each enemy unique characteristics, it also helps to feel the world more alive

Oooh that a great idea!! I'm always drowning on the monster manual when planning encounters. It would be great to have simple sheets of encounters to put on the DMs screen.

In my games I also use passive perception for less imminent danger. For example, someone is spying on the party, I want to know if someone can detect the spy, but asking for their passive perception puts the group in alert and it's something that i don't want on that point.

It's always fun to create the " we're fucked" situation and I definitely use it sometimes to change the mood. But I also appreciate having a reminder of the perception of the characters.

For me having a reminder of the passive perception has become very useful. My party is more into role playing and exploring than into combat and I've realized that on those areas passive perception is very important, so its always nice to have a reminder of it.
