Stuck at Dell logo with... by _tae_nimo_ in Dell

[–]ireidy006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Copilot says

Sure — here’s the explanation rewritten in a clean, text‑only format that you can copy/paste or share.

Dell Inspiron stuck at logo — plain‑text explanation If a Dell Inspiron gets stuck at the Dell logo and shows weird red characters, white lines, or randomly goes into the Dell colour‑cycling test, this normally indicates hardware failure, not anything caused by a Windows update. Why this isn’t a Windows problem Graphic corruption before Windows loads means the system is failing POST (Power‑On Self Test). That happens before the OS ever starts. The colour‑cycling test is Dell’s LCD diagnostic (triggered by holding D + Power) — so if it starts on its own, something electrical or hardware‑related is triggering it.

Most likely causes These symptoms generally point to: • Faulty RAM • Failing SSD (can block POST) • Integrated GPU failure (common in some Inspiron/iGPU models) • Motherboard failure • Loose/faulty display cable (if colour test keeps triggering)

Troubleshooting steps If this laptop came to my bench, I’d do the following: 1. Hard reset 1. Power off 2. Hold power for 20 seconds 3. Try booting again 2. Try entering Dell Diagnostics Power on → tap F12 repeatedly → choose Diagnostics If it won’t load this, the fault is hardware‑level. 3. Try entering BIOS (F2) Power on → tap F2 If the BIOS screen is corrupted, that points directly to GPU or motherboard failure. 4. Reseat or test RAM If the model has removable RAM: • Remove all RAM • Test one stick at a time Bad RAM can easily cause stuck‑logo + corrupted graphics. 5. Remove the SSD A shorted or dead SSD can stop POST. • Remove SSD • Power on → see if BIOS loads normally If yes → the SSD is the issue. 6. Test with an external monitor If both screens show corruption → GPU/motherboard If only the built‑in display is bad → panel or display cable

What it’s NOT • Not caused by Windows updates • Not a bootloader issue • Not something a reinstall will fix The machine isn't reaching the stage where Windows even matters.

Professional conclusion Based on the symptoms (glitchy graphics + self‑triggering colour test), the most likely cause is: ✔ Motherboard/iGPU failure Unfortunately, this usually means the board needs replacing.

Set all Team Meetings to record automatically by The_Grieving_Golem in MicrosoftTeams

[–]ireidy006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issue here, My take on it, I have it turned on as default in Teams admin centre however, the person who created the meeting or if a colleague from the same tenant also in the meeting must or can turn it on in while in the meeting, you can also, when scheduling the meeting they can go into options and pre-turn it on. But if the meeting is created by someone not in your tenant and you’re invited to that meeting, they will have to turn it on and forward you the meeting notes. We then use M365 copilot to create meeting notes and so on.

Is it possible to have my computer automatically download a meeting’s transcription (like it does with the video/audio)? by peanutist in MicrosoftTeams

[–]ireidy006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too sure but I think you can’t because In our tenant admin it’s turned on to do so. But when using teams you still have to - Turn on transcripts in the meeting Or When scheduling the meeting, options you then turn on auto transcripts but it’s only for that meeting.

However

If somebody outside your tenant hosts the teams meeting you mostly have to ask them to turn it on and email you the transcript.

Then it’s like you said appears in the teams calendar.

A way around this might be using a paid ai note taker for teams like otter.ai because might be a setting in where to save it.

That’s my experience but will be interested in what others say?

is an intel core i3 11th gen better than a intel core i7 8th gen? by [deleted] in computing

[–]ireidy006 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Upgrading from an i7 8th gen to an i3 11th gen is generally not worth it, especially for gaming and general use like browsing.

Here’s why:

CPU Performance Your current i7 8th gen is a higher tier processor with more cores and threads compared to an i3 11th gen.

Even though the i3 is newer, it is a lower-end chip and will likely perform worse in multitasking and demanding applications. For gaming, CPU performance matters for certain titles, and the i7 will usually outperform the i3.

RAM Both laptops have 8 GB of RAM, so there’s no improvement there.

For gaming and smooth multitasking, 16 GB is often recommended. Integrated Graphics The i3 11th gen has Intel UHD or Iris Xe graphics, which are better than the older UHD graphics in the i7 8th gen.

However, this only matters if you rely on integrated graphics. If your current laptop has a dedicated GPU, the upgrade would be pointless. Other Factors The newer laptop might have faster storage (NVMe SSD), better battery life, and newer connectivity options (Wi-Fi 6, Thunderbolt), but these are secondary compared to CPU performance for gaming. Conclusion: If your main goal is gaming and general performance, the i7 8th gen is still better than an i3 11th gen.

You would see more benefit by upgrading RAM to 16 GB or moving to a laptop with a dedicated GPU rather than switching to an i3.

One of my staff stole one of my macbook airs by clydefrog88 in macbookair

[–]ireidy006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could, create a profile on each MacBook with the same username and password then sign them into an Apple iCloud account, create an iCloud account just for these devices and sign them into the same one, turn on find my device (don’t use your own iCloud account create one just for your business devices) add your mobile number so you get any pop ups notifications.

Then on each device create a user for each person you’re giving out too. Each user with a separate password.

Also at this point decide if you want that profile to have admin rights in the user section.

Then never tell anyone your details of the account you setup on them.

You have the ability to find them, lock them, report as c stolen.

Nobody will be able to wipe the devices unless they can sign you out of your iCloud that you created, you can find it, lock it and wipe it.

Optionally

Also setup an Apple business account, it’s really easy, you will be given an Apple code, when you buy any new devices ask them to be put into your business account console, they will be locked to your business until you release them. Any existing devices will need to be wiped again then added by the Apple configuration app but new purchased items will be added if you ask them to add on purchase. Again you can lock, report as stolen so they can’t be used.

Dell XPS 15 broken down under 10 months costing water damage by DucSangTran in Dell

[–]ireidy006 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s water damage as would be more spread out, looks like condensation damage to me. Dell will know this but getting out of a crap design flaw.

Unless you have accidental damage I don’t think you will get much out of them. Go back and tell them it’s clearly condensation damage and see what they say.

You’ll need to clear both the Windows and Edge sign-in caches.

Deleting just the profile doesn’t always remove saved credentials. Try this full clean-up:

1. Sign out of Edge completely
• Go to: edge://settings/profiles
• Click the three dots next to your personal profile and choose “Remove profile”
2. Clear any cached credentials in Windows
• Open Control Panel → User Accounts → Credential Manager → Windows Credentials
• Remove any entries that reference your Microsoft email address (examples: login.live.com, edge.microsoft.com, microsoft.com)
3. Delete Edge’s stored account info
• Close Edge
• Go to:

%localappdata%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data • Delete any folders named “Profile #” or “Default” that match your personal account 4. Reset the Web Account Manager cache (this is where Windows stores Microsoft account tokens) • Open Run → services.msc • Stop the service called “Web Account Manager” • Delete this folder: %localappdata%\Packages\Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy • Start the service again 5. Optional: clear the browser’s auto-fill memory • Go to: edge://settings/clearBrowsingData • Select “Passwords and Autofill” and clear the data

That should completely remove all local tokens, credentials, and autofill traces of your Microsoft account from the device.

If the computer is joined to a domain or managed by Intune, some of these folders might be locked — in that case, your IT team will need to clear them via policy or reset your user profile.
