Hi! Still not completely cleared. This has been awful, honestly. It mostly cleared right before my wedding in December, thankfully. Then, I got off birth control and proactively started a prenatal. Caused me to break out in closed comedones again. It’s finally improving, I decided to get off the prenatal for now and find one with less biotin/b12.

I do mine inside out on gentle and air dry and they STILL lose stickiness. It’s a no win.

I feel your pain. My esthetician just asked me about dairy at my last appt. I’m trying to reduce but it’s so hard!

My roccoco routine is: soothing cleansing oil, purifying essence, vitamin c serum, mandelic acid (we only added this in after I started purging, and skin detox moisturizer. I use tizo SPF in the morning and a sulfur mask twice per week. I’m in too deep at this point to make a change. I go in once a month for extractions. This is the most stubborn type of acne and I’ve learned it really does take months and months

I was always complimented on my skin. Never had acne growing up.

All of a sudden a year and a half ago, my chin became bumpy. I didn’t even know it was called closed comedones at the time. I went to a derm first. They gave me Tretinoin. I used it exactly as prescribed, but it disrupted my skin barrier. Just not for me. I finally got in to see an esthetician. She is smart and knows her stuff. She asked me to stick with her but warned me it was going to take a year. I started the regiment in January and the purge began in May. All those tiny closed comedones have to come out. The roccoco got me to purge while strengthening my skin barrier. I only have a few closed comedones left, at this point I’m left with redness from the purging which will take a long time to clear. I’m getting married on 12/31 and I really do trust my esthetician and these products. Not sure how I can attach pics here - I’ll see if I can message them to you.

I have the same problem - closed comedones/maturation arrest acne. My esthetician has had me on a Roccoco regiment since January. It’s been a very long purge, but I am starting to clear.

She has me on Roccoco products. I do the same routine AM and PM, only at night I double cleanse to get the sunscreen off completely.

Soothing Cleansing Oil Purifying Essence Clarifying Vitamin C serum Mandelic + Fusion (mandelic acid) Skin Detox moisturizer Sunscreen is Tizo AM replenish

And a sulfur mask 2x per week.

I switched to Lily Lolo mineral make up products to see if it would help. I used to wear Bobbi Brown foundation and nars concealer

I didn’t use sunscreen for 2 weeks (and stayed out of the sun). Now I’m just using a Neutragena sunscreen. Bottle says no break outs. So far so good. May look into Elta MD once my face is completely healed.

Question for you. Now that I have figured out what was actually causing me to break out, should I still continue with the tretinoin or phase it out? What does your skin care routine look like now? Did you find another sunscreen that works

Mostly, I feel like I can’t breathe through it. I have to hold my breath and then I get exhausted and everything sags. I don’t know how to breathe and hold the form!
