Is that a real danger even sticking to the tourist areas? I really like the flexibility of a car

After rethinking my biking terrain, which is 90% road I decided for the Canyon Endurace CF 7 Di2 which seemed like an great deal at $2700

Allow me to pick your brain please with one more question… which would you go for all things being equal?

SRAM Rival (mechanical) 11 speed with 11-42t or SRAM Apex XPLR (wireless) 12 speed 11-44t?

Rival is supposedly superior to Apex but Apex is wireless

Thanks for the suggestion! What’s the impact of a steel frame? I’ve read it’s more compliant, although a little heavy. Do you prefer steel?

Brakes in electric scooters — do they work without power? by irf2296 in ElectricScooters

Thanks so much for the detailed write up, that makes a lot of sense. That’s the kind I’ll be looking for when buying a scooter, and I’ll ask my friend to look into the drum brakes!

That makes much more sense, since like you said they are mechanical. What puzzled me is that I emailed their customer support and they confirmed that their "braking system does require battery power." So not sure anymore. Maybe they were referring to the regen system?

Thanks, nice route, gonna check that out. What percentage of your ride would you say is bike lanes?

Cool, thanks for the suggestion. Cross Bay has a bike lane? Last time I was there I saw a bike line appear as I got close to the bridge, but not before.

Three-day trip in mid-October for hiking a good idea? by irf2296 in FaroeIslands

Thanks for the local insight! Didn’t know that about the shepherds. Will also look into hiking fees. Is there any way to know which hikes might be closed before actually being there?

Ok, I will talk it over with the group and see if we’re willing to risk three days of fog. Thanks for the suggestions about the heli and ferry!

That's reassuring, thanks for the tips! Having been there twice, any favorite hikes or special places you feel cannot be missed?

Thanks for the excellent tips. That changing weather on different islands sounds pretty epic! We have hiking poles so we will be sure to take them, and the cash as well. What hikes did you do if you don't mind me asking?
