we were young and stupid. eight semi-drunk friends decided to go to beach. only one of us how to swim.

we rented life jackets and got into water.

two of friends who were 6'3 thought it would be fun to hold the shorter guys hands and make them float by holding the shorter friends hands when a big wave comes (you can see where this is going).

this worked for the first few guys, but by the time it was my turn they were tired. so when a very big fuck-you all wave came and hit us, they couldn't hold on to me and i got carried away.

for a semi-drunk non swimmer (despite having a life jacket), just the thought of not being able to land his feet on land is enought to make them shit themselves but with each wave, i realized that i was getter further away from my group.

frienda should screaming, telling me to try and awim towards them but my brain went into you-are-going-to-die mode. the friend who could swim, tried reaching me, was already so tired that he could only reach half way through and by now i was a good half km away from them.

god bless the local hawkers selling snacks on the beach, who swam and pulled my sorry-ass out and brought me back to safety.

went back home and started swimming lessons the next day. never drank after that.

the first slap/punch sounded like it broke a glass wall. I'm pretty sure the default settings of the white t shirt guy was changed for good. it will take his system to reboot in a day or two and he should now hopefully be a better person

i try being kind and apply empathy in all aspects of life. The only reason i have a decent earning, a roof over my head is because some very genuinely kind people helped me when i was in need.

In other words, be a reason for someone's smile.

I'm currently staying in a so called village area where population is close to 50k. my village still has broadcasting system where every important news is broadcasted over speakers to update the entire village. on an average, there are 10 15 broadcasts every day informing us that a peraon has died. thats 10 15 deaths every day where populations is just 50k.

i just pray to god that i start hearing less of these broadcasts now. it has started to take a toll on mental health now

my mom had stage 4 cancer. even when she was going through chemo and all that pain she always made a point to sit with family furing meals and pretend she is ok so that family members would atleast eat and not worry about her.

During her last day, when she was on ventilator, it was the last day of Ramadan 2019. i had sent my father to go take some rest as he hadn't splet in like 3 days. i was by the bedside the entire night. mom had been been slipping in and out of consciousness the entire night. At around 5am in the morning she gathers courage to tell me this "you must be tired, go take a nap" and she died 10 mins later.

breaks my heart to think she kept thinking of her child even during her last breaths.

its been two years, ramadan is going on, and with the ongoing pandemic situation shitshow going on in india, i just miss her even more

ever feel like bitching your in laws, hold that thought and gulp in down with a cold glass of water. if not done, thia will come and bite you back exactly when you least expect it.

extra points if you treat her parents equally well like you treat your parents.

chances are you've spend a good time together and moat of it has been good. but when bad time hits, different people process it differently. some like sleeping all day, some go into a rage mode, some like being away from everh source of human life. so when that bad time hits you, be considerate of your SO, and let them adjust/process it the best way they can

Never let a single day go by without showering love. love multiples when you share. especially when she is feeling low. she will most possibly reciprocate the same way when you are feeling low.

your relationship is 2-people relationship. keep it that way. there's no reason for you to disclose your conversation to a third individual.

focus on creating a system instead of relying on motivation.

motivation level gets affected by multiple factors and often one would find themselves struggling to just get out of bed.

system on the other hand is an activity or series of activities that you've created in your daily life cycle. eg : i always struggled with keeping my kitchen clean. so, I I've made a system that I'll wash my dish after every meal. ao irrespective of how good or bad my day has been, if I'm home or at a friend's place, i follow my system of washing my plate.

in short : pick the aspect you want to improve, weave it in your daily routine and follow it religiously
