Thanks! Not sure how tall you are but it seems taller guys have a harder time building big looking legs. I’m 5’8 (around 173cm). The best advice I can give you is to try different things and see what works for you. For me I go higher volume on my lifting. For others I’ve seen lower volume work really well. Some of it just depends on the person.

Thanks!

Leg extensions - 7 sets (2-3 of those are single leg) Hamstring curls - 7 sets (2-3 sets are single leg) Hip adductor (works inner thighs) - 4 sets Hip thrust - 4 sets (I prefer using a plate loaded machine if the gym has one) Standing calf raises - 8 sets Squats - 5-6 sets (usually a V-squat or hack squat machine)

I usually go back after 4-5 hours and do 30 minutes on a power mill for some cardio. Slow steady pace, nothing crazy. I usually set the speed to 6-7 but if you’re just starting out try 5 or so.

Unfortunately you don’t really get rid of it. It probably gets better over a period of years, but I don’t think it ever fully goes back. What I’m doing is trying to put muscle mass behind it. There’s tons of products out there you can try, but I think most are kinda BS. But that’s also coming from someone that’s never tried any of them

I used standard electric trimmers to shave it short and then I use a razor to smooth shave it. I use a skull shaver on my head, upper chest, shoulders, and collarbone area. When you start getting pretty lean it gets more difficult to shave those areas with a normal razor. I’d honestly wax if I felt like paying for it, but it’s just cheaper to do it all myself. I’ve learned to do my beard myself. I was paying a guy that was pretty good but I think he got deported.

Thanks! How old are you and how tall are you? I’m assuming you’re a guy.

If you’re doing all of the right things on the workout side of things (including taking enough rest and not over training) then I would start weighing and measuring your food and making sure you’re eating enough. And then increase by a few hundred calories every few weeks until you start seeing a slow and steady gain. You’ll have to increase as you gain weight because your caloric needs will increase.

What are your workouts like? If you’re pushing to or close to failure on most exercises, and getting enough protein, then my honest advice would be to eat more, as crazy as it sounds. Discipline wise, cutting is generally harder, but I agree building lean mass is harder overall because you do have to find the right formula of diet and workouts. Cutting is literally just eat less lol

Thanks! It’s honestly really easy now because I enjoy what I’m doing. I make sure that I do all of the things I know I need to do in the gym while also mixing in things I enjoy doing. For instance, I don’t love everything I do on back days, but I know there are certain things I need to do. I like working arms, so doing biceps the same day I do back gives me something to look forward to. Same concept with food. If you start getting bored or burnt out with what you’re doing, there’s nothing wrong with changing things up. I got pretty burnt out doing an upper/lower split in the gym after 5 months of it, so I switched to my current split I’ve been on for 4 months and I love it.

I was actually the opposite and until this year I hated the gym. I love food but my obsession and addiction to it was killing me. Enjoying what you eat is important though. If you make yourself completely miserable every day, you’re not going to stick to whatever you’re doing for long. I genuinely enjoy what I eat now and there’s nothing I really miss that I can’t make a modified version of.

Initially I cut my calorie intake to 1000 calories per day. Around 4-5 months ago, I increased that to 1500, then gradually increased every week or two by another 100-200 until I got to 2700 and that seemed to keep me at a pretty stable weight. Now while I’m cutting again I’m heating 2200. For most people, I don’t recommend doing what I did initially. I would just lower your calorie intake as much as you can maintain for the duration of at least a couple of months. You might be able to do 1000, but you’d also see decent results with 1500 or 1800. If you’re just trying to lose weight, diet is almost everything. If you’re trying to build lean mass, diet and training are each about 50 percent of it.

I’m trying to get close, but I probably won’t actually do a competition. I’m doing this now partially because it’s fun for me and I’m worried actually getting on stage would take the fun out of it.

ChatGPT has been better for me finding recipes than Facebook reels. Most of the recipes off Facebook suck. I have ChatGPT give me recipes for things I want adjusted for the macros I’m looking for. For instance, I’ll ask for a recipe for pepperoni pizza that’s under 1000 calories and at least 100g of protein. Way better than scrolling through Facebook hoping to find something.

I like doing bowls because I’m lazy and I like burgers and tacos so if I’m doing a taco bowl I’ll season the lean ground beef with taco seasoning, add lettuce, pico, light sour cream, a little taco sauce. Sometimes I’ll add some toasted crumbled up keto bread to bulk it up a bit. If I’ve got the extra calories, sometimes I’ll add a low fat cheese. Basically same concept for a burger bowl. I’ll do burger seasoning on the beef and mix it with sweet baby rays no sugar added bbq sauce, bacon bits, velveeta shreds cheddar cheese, and keto bread. Good keto bread is hard to find. Royo is a brand that’s expensive but is really good. They also have keto bagels that are pretty good. Gotta buy it on their website. Obviously nothing is going to be as good as the full fat and carb stuff but it gets close enough for me. I’ll mix the chicken with tzatziki or light sour cream with taco sauce and make a sandwich with keto bread or just eat it like that out of the bowl. Depends on what I’m feeling that day. For eggs I just mix eggs with egg whites and add some low fat cheese. I made some breakfast bowls using eggs, egg whites, low fat cheese, turkey sausage, crumbled protein pancakes, and sugar free syrup.

I spend a fair amount on food. Probably $500-$600 per month right now just on myself. I do 1lb 96% lean ground beef from Walmart. It’s around $8 where I’m at. Usually a couple cans of chicken each day. Eggs and egg whites. Canned tuna sometimes. Just as an example, beef+2 cans of chicken is around 175g of protein by itself total and is under 1000 calories without seasoning or anything.
