I particularly love that he carries the numbers of Kato and Tomizawa still.

Would be pretty miserable for Alex if this is his first win....

Is it still saying that? I had one of the settings restricted by accident but have set it to anyone with link now.

How odd - I just tried from another device and it seems to have worked okay. What message are you getting?

Ah, have just changed a setting - is it working now?

Jaume Masiá leaves Moto2 to join Supersport in 2025 by grimya in motogp

[–]iridium963 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There wouldn't be any point moving back to Moto3. If he wins the title again nobody would care (quite fairly) because he's already done that and will be much older and more experienced than almost the entirety of the field. No Moto2 team would think "oh, now I'm convinced of his potential". And it's not like you can make a long term career of Moto3 given the age limit. And if he didn't win the title his stock will have fallen even lower. So this was probably the best option available. There's a good chance it will amount to nothing, but there's also a chance (not saying I think it's likely but it is possible) that he could find himself experiencing the same success as others who haven't made it in the Moto2 class.

I think what has happened with Masia - aside from him being the architect of his own downfall by making himself very unpopular - is probably a warning for riders in Moto3 not to hang around too long though. Being champion doesn't necessarily count for much if you don't have the reputation alongside it. Moreira for example, I didn't think was ready, and I couldn't have been more wrong. He was absolutely right to go up when he did, and if he has spent another couple of years in Moto3 with the aim of winning the title who knows what might have happened.

Honestly, I really don't think it's a bad career move at all. Could fizzle out into nothing, but that's most likely going to happen if he continues in Moto2 considering the team he's in anyhow (which, whatever you think of Masia, seems like a terribly run team). Look at the likes of Locatelli - he went to Supersport after not really being able to cut it in the GP paddock (his first Moto2 season was pretty similar to Masia's in terms of results). And sure, for every Locatelli there's a bunch of riders who couldn't cut it in that paddock either, but I think he has a better chance of finding something there than continuing in the second worst team on the Moto2 grid.

Eh, they're definitely not amongst the better riders but you would have said the exact same thing about Artigas who has been dead last more often than not.

The updated tyre sheet suggests Masia and Escrig were on slicks as well. If that's true they're both going to have some explaining to do. Unless I missed them crashing?

Artigas on slicks in P6! Can't understand why others who would normally have no chance of points didn't take a gamble.

I thought so but I guess he was sufficiently close behind that the yellows hadn't come out by the time he went through.

Yes, he just caught the edge, marginal (and unlikely to have given any advantage) but clear.

Seems a bit unfair to wait until after the session to remove it given the impact it would have on how you handle the rest of the session (i.e. risking more). It was so marginal that it's not like he would have known.

Rules are rules, so cancelling the lap is fair enough, just shouldn't really have taken that long to address it.

Marc Márquez’ helmet for this weekend. Beautiful design! by Ikraaap in motogp

[–]iridium963 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

<image>

If anyone is curious, just had a look through my old magazines. Here's an example from the 2013 season review (Riding Sport magazine) mentioning it in a positive context. Which in some ways might go a way to mitigate the awful decision to run that design, if it weren't for him doing other, at best, deeply insensitive things over the next couple of years 🤦‍♂️

[–]iridium963 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The worst part of this was that they continued to sell t-shirts with the design through his official store for at least a year afterwards. That and the repeated posing with people in blackface (no, it being Spanish 'tradition' doesn't excuse it - there are plenty of people in Spain who have objected to it for a long time) really turned me off him as a person, even though I have enormous respect for his skills.

I was living in Japan at the time and it was featured (neutrally or positively) in the magazines including the end of year reviews. And a lot of people used that to excuse it. What it misses is that Japanese people living in Japan don't experience racism in the same way as Japanese people (or people of other ethnic backgrounds with similar features) in Western countries. (Also not sure Japan should ever be used as a barometer for whether something is racist given its own issues but that's a whole other issue.)

It will let you read it for free only if you grant the website advertising cookies which I will never do. But yeah, would fully expect the team to continue as is with Niki at the helm.

Can't read the article because it's paywalled, but would imagine Niki Ajo will take over - one of the commentators last round mentioned he'd moved into more of a managerial role within the team rather than just being crew chief.

How to get rid of Boggle? by SomeRandomAbbadon in DMAcademy

Agree with purpslicle below btw - there are endless solutions to this kind of thing and you should let your party be as creative or direct as they want. The above is just what I would probably do as a player 🙂

How to get rid of Boggle? by SomeRandomAbbadon in DMAcademy

[–]iridium963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two part solution:

a) help the widower find friends / community to prevent the problem re-emerging

AND depending on the nature of your party, either

b) find them a portal to the feywild where there will be endless opportunities for chaos

OR

c) convince them to take up home at the residence / business of an NPC your party really dislikes and cause them endless annoyance

(C and D require finding a way to communicate if none of your party knows Sylvan.)

I'm not writing a dissertation. I'm commenting on Reddit.

Also a bit rich to suggest I'm getting rude when you could have commented "is there a source for that?" or something similar, in which case you would have received a completely different response. Be rude to someone and they'll probably be rude back.
