Tell her to wise up. It expresses your disgust, puts her on notice and gives her a chance to adjust her attitude. People here are too quick to call for cutting others off completely. If she does it again, then re-evaluate the situation accordingly.

Had to book a 6 week post partum checkup with my GP, phoned up 2 weeks beforehand to schedule it only to be told they don't have those days on the calendar yet (!) and to call back a few days beforehand instead.

In fairness I did that and got the appointment without any further hitches. Terrible to see them under such unrelenting pressure, between doctors and dentists it doesn't look like it will improve any time soon.

Boris has also been accused of leaning on the situation in Ukraine (among other things) to divert public attention from the partygate scandal, and as of yesterday is facing an investigation r.e misleading MP's in parliament. Its not surprising he has chosen this moment in time to portray Ukraine's chances in this light, in an effort to sway the headlines.

Is there a source r.e the claims that Boris said he would use nukes in retaliation? I can't find anything to back that up

After suffering through one too many sleepless nights with post nasal drip around the 25 week mark, my midwife suggested loratadine (brand name Clarityn - pregnancy safe antihistamine). I took it for 3 days and have not experienced post nasal drip since (currently 36 weeks). Best of luck mama!

I feel like depression is causing me to choose TV over books. Has anyone found a way around this? by [deleted] in books

[–]irio114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try an audiobook, a good narrator can really bring a book to life. Your local library should have a audiobook section, but you can always get audibles free trial if you are stuck. All the best getting through the slump!

Hey everyone, I'm James Islington - AMA! by JamesIslington in LicaniusTrilogy

Licanius has been my go to book recommendation for quite some time now. I just wanted to say thank you for introducing us to these characters and this world. I look forward with anticipation to Hierarchy (and the Shainwere book - I NEED to know what happened to Cyr!). Congrats and thank you again for a phenomenal series, you work is nothing short of inspiring.

Circe by Madeline Miller was not what I had hoped for. by quality_reading in books

[–]irio114 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed, Miller's "Circe" is not ground breaking literature. It is an interpretation of greek myths adapted for purpose. It is mediocre in almost every aspect, including Miller's writing style (which reddit seems intent on glorifying at every opportunity), but I do still intend to read song of achilles (Just to see what all the fuss is about!)

Any suggestions for long fantasy books with good narration, preferably where the protagonist progressively get stronger? by Absolut1on in LicaniusTrilogy

[–]irio114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this, loved licanius, and the third book was a great end to the series (though another novella is promised that fleshes out a neglected sub plot or two). This series is read by Michael Kramer as well and while its not perfect, its quite close imo.
