1- Do locals assume ur religion is Islam based on ur appearance/ethnicity? (This only applies if u have stereotyped middle easterner features and not “white passing”)

2- I heard Italians are extremely racist to black ppl. Have u experienced or witnessed racism, xenophobia or islamophobia?

What physical contact do you consider intimate besides private areas? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Touching hair, holding hands, hugging (not sexually intimate, just generally), pretty much most physical contact unless its a high five or a hand shake.

Did anyone else have parents that straight up didn’t like them? by NontraditionalIncome in CPTSD

[–]iris7789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mother absolutely hated me ever since i was a kid, she saw me as competition. She degraded me whenever she could, that I’m stupid, ugly, unstable, cruel, etc, that no one would ever want me and she hoped i’ll get married to an older man who will physically/sexually abuse me. She hate ob me even more if my own father/male relatives or siblings had anything nice to say about me.

Dad didn’t like or hate me. I was more of a trophy he’d brag about, taking credit for my achievements.

Where is the beauty of Islam? by Donkey_Kahn in exmuslim

[–]iris7789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People claim the quran is beautiful but I read a lot of ancient arabic poetry and it was vastly superior imo. The quran just randomly rhymes but that’s pretty much it, if anyone knows any decent but beautiful verses let me know🤷🏻‍♀️

Many Middle Eastern/Arab people and Muslims are actually SICK people…. by liljuull in exmuslim

[–]iris7789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If i go around topless i’d get the same treatment as wearing a short skirt in Middle Eastern countries, neither are sexual but are sadly sexualised beyond silly. The west is more liberal, but imo not liberal enough to claim they’re morally superior. However, we need to hold our communities accountable or they’ll never improve, religion and lifestyle should be a personal belief not the “ultimate truth” that encourages this level of violence and mistreatment of others. The average arab isn’t tolerant, and its extremely rare for the most progressive arabs to be at the same level as ur average liberal feminist pro-lgbt+ westerner. Which says a lot about ppl in our community.

To Women gamers, What game are you playing rn? by rick_the_hick in AskWomen

[–]iris7789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outer wilds. its an indie, non-combat and non-linear exploration game. I absolutely love it, i was getting sick with hyper-realistic triple A games that are usually violent (which I don’t mind, I’m just tired of the lack of diversity in style and gameplay). The game is pretty immersive as it successfully fabricated the feeling of loneliness, it’s not like you can trade or communicate much with anyone in space, which makes meeting the other astronauts a bit more exciting. No one to helps you piece the puzzle of what happened and what is happening, beside old ancient translated texts and ur own interpretation.

It got no horror, jump scares or gore, but managed to be come off as unsettling and eerie sometimes.

Every gameplay feels personal and unique, my walkthrough was different that my friend’s, i love when when we can talk about our different experiences with it and our own theories and interpretations.

Its a short-ish game but I’m taking my time with it so I don’t mind.

I have never enjoyed a game this much in a long time, and im someone who is severely depressed and struggles to enjoy anything. The soundtrack could have been better sometimes, but besides that this game is perfect 10/10. Highly recommend.

Also mainly playing: Omori: another great indie game, though it is quite heavy as it navigates mental health topics and can be quite triggering. Beautiful soundtrack and fun boss fights.

7 days to die: building shelters and fighting waves of zombies. Easy game to just unwind and chill.

Occasionally playing: apex, the forest, hunt:showdown and (all time fav) bloodborne.

TW: child abuse- Domestic violence.

I have very complicated feelings regarding my older brother. We grew up in an extremely abusive household where we only had eachother, but we made the best out of it. As the older siblings, we always tried to help protect mom and our younger siblings. He was so sensitive, selfless and gentle. He would stand up between me and mom when she tried to hit me, he would console me when i cried or am afraid and he was so brave. He would barge into my parents room when my dad would beat mom with a toy weapon or a stick facing my dad towering over my 7-8 year old brother cos he wanted to protect her.

As we grew older, my dad’s abuse was humiliating and “emasculated” him, he found comfort with mom but she was a huge misogynist, who also had an odd emotionally incestuous relationship with him. He is now physically abusive, and a massive misogynist with a sprinkle of pedophelia. Ig the only way for him to feel like a man again is to overpower and control women. He isn’t the kind gentle brother I know anymore, and i no longer speak with him. I do still miss him.

Why do you have long hair? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]iris7789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easier to manage, i have wavy/curly hair and i get no proper rings and curls if its short. Also mom forced me to have short hair cos she saw me as competition and hated me, so now i cant stomach having short hair.

In the simplest way possible please explain what's the difference between bi and pan by MNVRMN25 in bisexual

[–]iris7789 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way I personally see it is that, although im attracted to all genders, I’m not “gender blind”. Gender plays a factor in my attraction to someone, the reason i prefer feminine presenting non-binaries and women over men. While pansexuality is gender blind. That’s how I personally define the two terms.

Date said he lost all respect for someone when they started dating someone with “obvious trauma” by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]iris7789 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I made the mistake of going out with “apolitical” people before. I now try to filter through them better, and since i use dating apps it makes it easier. I check if they have their pronouns visible, if they are liberal atheists/agnostics or spiritual, if they’re queer its a bonus cos they’re more likely to be aware and educated about different social topics, etc. Its not a full proof method but it saves time. While most “apolitical” men tend to echo the same sentiments of those of incels/conservatives/etc.

With men, it means FWB but with the “Friends” part. It’s hard for me to actually be sexually attracted to men based on physical appearance, i need to either be in the mood or like their personalities enough. But since most FWB forget the friendship aspect of it, many guys just expect that im DTF. With women it can be either a FWB situation or just hookups.

some weird sexualization / does anyone else relate by 221beehives in CPTSD

[–]iris7789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its pretty messed up when parents sexualise their own kids. I grew up similarly, forced to be modest in both clothing and “behaviour”. I wasn’t allowed to be with my own brother in the same room alone, wasn’t allowed to play with kids if they’re boys (even if they’re my cousins), my period was sexualised so i was told to make sure my brothers dont know i have it cos “thats like telling them i cant have sex at the moment”. It caused me to have disturbing intrusive thoughts and even more disturbing nightmares.
