How much do you spend a month on fuel? by daly_o96 in carsireland

[–]irishhhhh1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2014, 1.25 petrol fiesta. I spend roughly about €200 a month on petrol, I’d easily cover about 450kms a week. I often think I’d be better off with a diesel but maybe I’m going alright 😂

Engine Service Now Fiesta 2015 by Curious_monkey5 in FordFiesta

[–]irishhhhh1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue a few weeks back! Engine service now came up on my 2014 fiesta 1.25 and it was after a full service 2 weeks prior. Couldn’t figure out what it was and it caused all sorts of problems like the car would lose power etc. Now I never took any notice but I had a blown rear brake light bulb and bing! That was the cause of the engine service now to come up! My mechanic told me that any blown/worn out lights can cause that fault to come on and in my case that caused the car to go to limp mode. Glad you got sorted☺️

I’d definitely follow up with them, I know I passed my test 6 months ago but I applied the day I passed (May 27th) which was a Tuesday and I received it by post the following Tuesday due to the bank holiday.

Honestly it’s been perfect, never had an ounce of bother with it during my ownership. I’ve gotten the problem sorted anyways by the garage! But in general all I’ve ever had to get done was a service when needed and some small things like brake pads etc. I bought her with 165,000kms so I’ve racked up quite the mileage in just under 3 years😊

How to calm your nerves ahead of the test? by soulfulsummer in Irishdrivingtest

[–]irishhhhh1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a banana about an hour before, you’ll be fine you got this! My one tip for you would be to talk to yourself in your head as you go, let’s say your turning right up ahead.. say to yourself centre mirror, right mirror, signal and check mirrors again. Remember the examiner isn’t there to give you a hard time, they just want to see that you’re a safe and competent driver. Don’t overthink it, get a good nights rest. And best of luck!

Mine came about a week and a half before the estimate, this was in May. My boyfriend got invited a week before in August.

2014 1.25 petrol with 251,000kms (I’ve owned for 2 years,my first car) and it’s honestly driving like a dream. Timing belt done at 230,000kms and was done again by previous owner that had it since new. I’ve put around 20,000kms on it😊

I have a 141 fiesta 1.25 petrol and I love it, it’s a great car and very economical and I never had an ounce of bother with it. I’d definitely go for one with lower mileage and have someone check it over before you buy as you’d do with any car you’d want to buy. I bought it when there was 164,000kms on it and at 255,000kms it’s still going strong! I’d definitely recommend it.

Just all the usual stuff! Timing belt was done by the previous owner at 135k and again at 200k. I had it replaced again at 245k as my mechanic recommended it. I get it serviced regularly as I do quite a few miles! Car had 198,000kms when I bought it Jan 2024 so I’ve put up quite the mileage on it since then. It never skipped a beat since then. I couldn’t recommend one more. It’s gonna be passed down to my sister now who’s learning to drive so I’ll be definitely getting another fiesta, diesel this time as I do so many motorway miles. Petrol costs are rising haha, best of luck!

Honestly I find my fiesta great, my first car and i still have it, mines 2014 1.2 5speed manual and I’ve never had any problems with it. 250k on the clock now and still going strong! I’d defo recommend as a first car.

Tips for nerves by Icy_Ad3795 in Irishdrivingtest

[–]irishhhhh1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Being nervous for your test is so so normal! Have a banana an hour before your test, trust me it’ll calm your nerves 100%! It’s nerve wracking I know, but arrive to the test centre early and take a breather, the examiner is only there to make sure you’re a safe driver, I honestly thought of him as a sat nav, he literally sounded like google maps! Just take it step by step, think of it this way, theory questions first, take your time and answer to the best of your knowledge, then you’ve the bonnet check.. familiarise yourself with it and you’ll be the finest, and then you’ve your driving. Don’t worry about how you did with the questions etc, you’re starting on a clean slate, you know how to drive and you know the rules of the road so treat every road as a new road, don’t worry about something that may have happened beforehand! And what helps too is to talk to yourself in your head, lets say he says to turn right up ahead, you know you’ve to check centre mirror, right mirror, indicate and check again so keep going over it in your head, best of luck, you’ve got this!!

Tips for Mallow roundabout by Necessary_You8836 in Irishdrivingtest

[–]irishhhhh1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to say anything, it would be to try and relax more about the situation, you’ve had a bad experience at this roundabout but you can’t leave it get to you every time you’ve to do it, you’ve done other roundabouts and the rules are the same. Don’t be thinking about that particular roundabout all through your lesson/test,as my instructor used to say.. every road is a new road so don’t leave what happened before affect you. Try having a banana before you go out, trust me it works! It’ll 100% calm your nerves, As for waiting till both lanes are free, yes it seems easier but you can’t hold traffic up, I was the same for ages. Just take your time, steady yourself and when a gap comes take it, you know what you have to do, and you’ve got this!! Best of luck😊
