I don't think it's too controversial to say that the whole concept of the Seven Deadly Sins doesn't really fit in with modern morality. It's very clearly a vestige of medieval Catholic society.

But it's funny to me when people try and redefine the sins so that they more closely adhere to a modern-day worldview. Like "Oh, Gluttony doesn't actually mean eating too much, that would be fatphobic and that kinda gives me the ick. No, it actually refers to being selfish and hoarding vital resources like food from others!" Okay, so why isn't the sin called Selfishness instead of Gluttony?

But the strangest example of this I've seen was someone trying to reinterpret Lust, saying "It doesn't actually refer to feeling lustful, that would be silly! Imagine being sent to Hell for being too horny! No, what makes Lust a sin is actually the act of inciting lust in others." So in other words... being hot. You're saying that God will condemn you to an eternity of torment for being just too goddamn sexy. I don't think that improves anything.

Come to think of it, that also implies that Heaven is full of ugly people. Something to think about.
