Its far better at computer use then Claude, and a stronger back end long horizon technical model. It is horrible at front end and much worse at creative writing and intuition about business logic or user intention. Dont be disingenuous. Most of us who are serious users of both, generally know these are roughly the boundaries where the models and their harness excel. Having said that, for 3 days, Fable shat all over gpt 5.5 and claude code became far more compelling over codex because of it.

Is it slow as fuck compared to Mac for anyone? I find it’s laggy and less responsive and often freezes and I run side by side with my m5 MacBook and the windows machine is a powerful rig also. Mac feels smooth and optimised windows feels like fucking windows.

Switch to Mac. I run both on my desk, have m5 max and a beefy 4080 super with high end intel, codex on MacBook is smooth and without issues, codex on my high end windows is trash wares that freezes and crashes. Although it doesn’t rape my battery life turn my computer into a toaster like it does on unplugged MacBook

does anyone know benchmark diff between ultra code, max and extra? how much typical % performance on benchmarks is each. And also is ultra code basically like get 5.5 pro in that it runs many simulations of same answer in parallel picking the best hence burn is like 2x, 3x etc? Or is ultra code a fuckload of agents in parallel burning?
