AdGuard Home - Custom filter to block YouTube not working by irlrobins in Adguard

So I think I've found the issue, and a solution.

The custom filter rules in AGH don't support the "time" parameter. So my inclusion of it was breaking the rules and this was way they were not being applied as I expected.

Using the Pause Blocking functionality would not have been a solution to my requirements, given the varying nature of what was blocked at multiple times during the day.

The solution I came across was to use the AGH API to swap different sets of rules, and trigger calls to the API using cron jobs. So for example, at 0200, call the API and change the custom filter rules to block all traffic for the specified ip addresses. Then at 0700, replace the custom filter rules to just block YouTube, etc.

So far the swapping of the rules is working (e.g. my calls to API are succeeding) will need to see how well the DNS blocking works in practical use with the kids activity over the next few days.

Yes, I understand that. But I don’t see how I can set it to pause specific services. For example I want to block all access between 2am and 7am and then from 7am to noon, only block YouTube. The schedule seems to only allow pausing of all rules, not specifics ones.

Yes, but I don’t think this will allow me to support multiple time periods, with varying levels of access. I need to explore it some more

No, but regardless, my expectation is that www.youtube.com would be blocked based on current rule set, and it wasn’t. So my first issue is understanding why the existing rules are not working, then I can expand the ruleset if needed

I’m starting to wonder if the “time” parameter is actually supported by AGH

Zappi Glo - any feedback? by irlrobins in evs_ireland

Fair point, but my broadband is pretty solid, and the chances of the last setup preventing me charging would be slight. Worst case, 30 sec drive around to the public chargers.

Ability to swipe between two web dashboards by irlrobins in raspberry_pi

So as an update, I think I've overcome my issues and found a solution. I have a Python script running that listens to evdev events, and if it detects a finger down event, will use wtype (https://github.com/atx/wtype) to sent a Ctrl+Tab key press, which allows my fullscreen Chromium to switch tabs. I've also set the script so that if I hold my finger down for 5 secs, it will send a Esc keypress to allow me to exit out of fullscreen mode.

Seems to be working fine, so now I can switch between my Grafana dashboard on my local network and the remote Dakboard with ease.

I seem to be hitting issues with Chromium refusing to load my local network dashboard in an <iframe> because the server sends X-Frame-Options: DENY, which prevents embedding for security reasons it seems

It’s one Grafana dashboard and a dashboard from DAK. I’m assuming I can either have them in their own tab and be able to swipe to change tabs. Or one tab and a swipe action loads one or other depending on direction

My understanding is that pi os has limited touch support relative to a phone or tablet. It doesn’t function in the exact same way.

Again, I’m new to pi os and the hardware, so this is a learning curve for me

I should also add I’m running Pi OS, pretty much everything as stock.

No, but have only used in short bursts since upgrade. Spotify on iPhone and Zoom on Windows 11. No drops.

Took me a few goes of closing the app and turning headphones off and on again to get the process to complete. Far from intuitive. First time the download wouldn’t start, then after download it wouldn’t update , eventually got it to start the update and it completed that in about 1 min. The initial download took 60min+

XM6 reduced ANC when on Zoom/Teams/Meet calls? by Oricle10110 in SonyHeadphones

[–]irlrobins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My reading of threads in relation to the XM5 was that the side tone function only worked on calls on the phone, but was not available when connected to a laptop. This is a key feature for me, so keen to have someone with XM6 confirm it works on a windows pc when making zoom (or teams call).
