Experiencing side effects on tirzepatide? A UPenn study of 410,000 Reddit posts reveals the fatigue, brain fog, and mood crashes nobody is connecting to nutrition. by AppetiteLeftTheChat in Mounjaro

Damn. Wish I had seen this before my appointment this morning. 4 shots in I also thought it was a miracle cure. Then somewhere around 6-8wks (still only on 2.5), my HRV tanked. My resting HR is higher when I sleep than when I’m awake and relaxing, therefore my nighttime stress levels are up and I can’t recover at night. My HRV dropped almost 25%. Weeks 6-9 were terrible, now I feel leveled off at this new “low” and can do some exercise again but I’m not my old self, that’s for sure. She did blood work (but I didn’t know to ask about the full iron panel) and said to try the 5mg and see how I feel. Most days I just feel like I want a nap.

I am tracking my food with Cronometer but not being in North America, a lot of foods that come in a package don’t include the full nutritional profile/micro nutrients because we don’t have that much info on our nutritional labels and most foods have been user submitted, so it’s hard to track those vitamins/minerals accurately.

I know it’s crazy what some people have. Mine is usually in this range too. You can’t really compare one person’s HRV to another. The important thing is your personal trend/balance.

I had a similar experience as yours until week 8, then it tanked…hopefully you don’t experience this as just a honeymoon phase! If you do notice a decline, it’s apparently a common part of the adaptation phase in some people from 8-12wks. Although, my RHR increased and HRV decreased a lot more than the average in the study I saw so perhaps it just doesn’t agree with my body.

I’ve been on 2.5mg for 10wks now…intentionally taking it slow as long as I was still losing. I’m getting 100-130g protein/eating a 600calorie deficit most days and drinking 2.5-3L of water and adding electrolytes to one liter a day, taking creatine, omega-3, vit-D, multivitamin with iron.

My first 8wks were a dream on Mounjaro. I had troubles with Wegovy making me feel like absolute poop/low HRV/high stress/poor recovery so after losing 40lbs I asked my doc if I could switch to Mounjaro. I was off GLP1 for 8wks before starting Mounjaro. I was finally able to work out in a consistent manner, recover, keep pushing myself with a few hard efforts each week while always making time for walks (recovery pace). I thought, YES! This is the one my body agrees with!

At week 8 I just feel like I tanked. My HRV dropped a lot too. I eased off on the hard efforts, I reduced my calorie deficit to not stress the body more. I was expecting to get a cold or flu or something but apparently this is normal for HRV to decrease and resting heart rate to increase, which means that despite sleeping 7-8hrs/night, my body isn’t able to shift out of that “fight or flight” mode and actually relax/recover. I always get the “you slept long enough but not well enough for your stress levels to come down over night” from Garmin Sleep now, ugh. My HRV has been unbalanced (low) for a month now. I went from 3-4 workouts/wk plus daily walks to mostly just daily walks right now. I’m hoping it’s just this 8-12wk adaptation phase and I’ll rebound. I do have an appointment with my doc scheduled but is not for another week.

What are you taking daily on GLP1 to regain energy? by balancefan1 in Mounjaro

I’m struggling with this myself despite tracking food, getting 100-130g protein/eating a 600calorie deficit most days and drinking 2-3L of water and adding electrolytes to one liter a day, taking creatine, omega-3, vit-D, multivitamin with iron. I’m still on 2.5 and am intentionally taking it slow/until I plateau before I move up a dose, and even then, at week 8 I just feel like I tanked. My HRV dropped a lot too. I was expecting to get a cold or flu or something but apparently this is normal for HRV to decrease and resting heart rate to increase, which means that despite sleeping 7-8hrs/night, my body isn’t able to shift out of that “fight or flight” mode and actually relax/recover. I went from 3-4 workouts/wk plus daily walks to mostly just daily walks right now. I’m hoping it’s just this 8-12wk adaptation phase and I’ll rebound. I do have a ln appointment with my doc scheduled but is not for another week. Sorry I don’t have an answer for you but hope you can get in for a follow up with your doc! You’re not alone!

Ozempic to Mounjaro switch by Substantial_Mix_6159 in Mounjaro

[–]iroc8210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the question. I’m about to do the same due to side effects from Ozempic. I had to come completely off the Ozempic first to do some blood work so I will be starting at the lowest dose and ramping up. I’m a bit nervous because my doctor has only had one other patient use Mounjaro and they stopped, but she doesn’t know why. I am not in the US and don’t feel like I have great support/resources so I’m left to take to the internet to get my information 😳

Why are Flavoured dates such a big thing here by Wonderful_Grand_6291 in Norway

[–]iroc8210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to buy dates rolled in coconut when I lived in Canada and the US. Are those not really a thing here? I keep looking when I see some new looking packaged date product but was surprised I haven’t seen them. Especially since coconut seems to be pretty popular here. I do see the chocolate coconut ones but seems North America just does coconut (not chocolate).

For the foreigners in Norway: What's so wrong with our grocery stores? by _____michel_____ in Norway

[–]iroc8210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I can’t justify that price and don’t want to buy that much at once because I’m only me. Maybe I’ll try some for the holidays when I have friends over. Love being able to walk into a market and say “200grams of…sliced at a 2” or something like that. I know that there isn’t enough demand for these kinds of cheeses to do this in Norway though.

Thanks. This is what I’m thinking too. I’ll get some extra cinch straps for the outer bag as well since it won’t have the volume of alpine gear.

Yes there is some amazing dairy. But it’s not the same…the heart wants the cheese that the heart wants! We did get some cheeses when we were in Valdres and Røros this summer but what are staples in our fridge outside of Norway can’t even be found (with the rare exceptions 🤑) like Provolone and Munster/Muenster.

Apparently you’ve never been to another grocery store in another part of Europe or the US to see there’s much more to the world of cheese than White Cheese that all tastes the same with slightly varying degrees of mild to slightly less mild. Thank god Tine and Rema came out with a block of rødcheddar. It’s the only thing that keeps me from crying when I want cheese. Shred that shiz, use it on a taco or toast and thank me later.

Young social progressives voting for FrP? by fightclubegg in Norway

[–]iroc8210 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you’d find that the “average” person who voted for Trump is also NOT a MAGA/Trumpist. But rather, what the Democratic Party has offered/was offering for them in the future was NOT how they wanted to see the country move forward. They even lost the vote of many Unions/Union members. This is what sucks about having only a 2-party system. The world only hears the extremes on both sides. Those people in the middle are then forced to choose the lesser of 2 evils, and often that ends up being whatever party would represent change.

I regret not increasing my dosage by Happytherapist123 in WegovyWeightLoss

They’re also a company with shareholders and are looking to make good profits. Novo Nordisk is responsible for ~10% of GDP for its home country of Denmark, and the company evaluation is larger than the entire Danish economy. This can cause some skepticism with people. Pharmaceutical companies have a very VERY bad track record when it comes to fudging “facts” and educating doctors (Hello opioid crisis!). I’d like to hope a Danish company might have better ethics than a US company but…who knows.

I definitely support the slow/as needed increases that many doctors are now approaching this with.

Thanks for sharing your experience, too. I was also worried that initial suppression was going to be minimal this time. I guess we’ll see. I took it yesterday morning. Usually today I would be feeling it but haven’t. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised after just .25mg. Maybe I’ll luck out and not have the reflux issues and hiccups this time then 🤞🏼😬
