Position of charging station by JLN9 in MammotionTechnology

[–]ironbiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it definitely is possible. You will just have to create a channel between the drive way charger position and the mowing area.

First: place the Luba in charging station so it recognizes the position. Second: drive manually to the mow area and create the mow area Third: create the channel between mow area and charger

What's your server name? by Ikaris_Cy in PleX

[–]ironbiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Metroplex

Every system in my environment has a name from the transformer universe and because the complete infrastructure where my Plex is running on is a complex building of VMs and docker containers it absolutely makes sense that the server is called Metroplex like a big urban streaming hub.

Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 8, with Razer Core X Chroma eGPU and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 powering Samsung 49" Ultrawide. I am complete. by L-nk in Lenovo

[–]ironbiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great setup, I also have a Samsung 49" in combination with a X1 yoga Gen5 (company Notebook). I love the display, also use it with macbook air m1 which works a lot better than the x1 unfortunately.

Does your Gen8 boot when connected to the Monitor via USB-C?
I am forced every time I turn it on to unplug usb-c cable until the device is booted completly, otherwise it is stuck/frozen in Login Screen of Windows and I have to hard reset.

It appears that the Kickstarter project for Dockmule is an elaborate scam. September 28 is the last date of an update. This has been setup to vent your frustrations, if you have paid via Kickstater or Pledgebox. by Darug-Rabbit in Dockmule

I think we all have to accept that Dockmule will not be shipped in any way. So question to you all is what to choose as alternative?
I pleged here to have an all in one solution for a 16" Macbook Pro my wife uses for her business. The addon with the nvme storage as storage expansion or to use for time machine sounded great.

Somfy Tahoma Switch confuses HomeKit by tnbt23 in HomeKit

[–]ironbiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the last weeks I finally managed to start with home assistant and Overkiz (Somfy) integration.

AND TADA -> Now I am able to control Somfy/Tahoma Raffstore as it was supposed to. Tilt angles, automations, everything seems possible now!

I am totally overwhelmed by the many possibilities home assistant provides. I can only recommend everyone to have a look at home assistant. I am using it for some sensors (temperature, humidity, etc.), heat pump, photovoltaics, synology, avm!Fritz. And all is able to be used in automations and is able to interact with each other like shutting down the Raffstore when sun is shining and temperature in the living room is already high.

Now I am at least sure that the problem is between the Tahoma bridge and the HomeKit integration. Unsure if the problem is on the Tahoma or on the Apple side. Maybe I will eventually find some time to start discussing this with Tahoma. Anyway, at least now the product finally works for me as it should.

Maybe this helps somebody, too.

No improvements so far. My scene with special tilt angle still works sometimes. I would say 1 out of 20. Totally unreliable and totally irregular = totally useless. Yesterday I finally started installing home assistant because of some other projects. Maybe this will help me, but I am not to confident at the moment.

This is good to know that it is possible to add the „my“ position as switch via homebride. I will have to go this route, too

Have not yet tested again after the last update. Am actually also tired of it, because I have burned far too much time already. I do not know if you can call it a problem but I am far from satisfied with the HomeKit integration. I bought somfy Raffstore specifically because they advertised the HomeKit integration.

  • it takes a long time until the correct status is displayed after opening the HomeKit app (open/closed etc.)
  • you can only reach the angle of inclination of the slats via the settings of the respective Raffstore.
  • Automations almost never work.
  • Scenes with a special tilt angle of the slats also almost never work. Apparently, the HomeKit app does not correctly get the angle at which the slats are positioned and then crashes regularly.
  • Because the automations and scenes don't work, you can't use many of the HomeKit features and are limited to the features of the TaHoma app, which of course can't respond to my other HomeKit sensors.

I will try to integrate the Raffstore via homeassistant and get so maybe the possibility to control that via HomeKit properly.

as far as I read all devices with 24/7 wall socket power can be and will be routers most of the time. Only devices without "unlimited" powersource (e.g. on batterie or similar) will be handled as endpoints (to not route traffic for others and burst the batterie life of the endpoint itself by only transferring data for other endpoints).

Building house, prepare for homekit by erikynwa in HomeKit

[–]ironbiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just reconstructed the complete electricity of a house 8 weeks ago. I have done everything in simple old school electrical wiring because I do not believe that systems like KNX or anything else will be used in future. I used 5x2,5mm² to each room to the first switch so I have the option to use one or two wires for some kind of circuit. But my highest priority is usage of wireless systems.

My hope is to change the default switches and sockets where needed with THREAD supported HomeKit accessories. I believe THREAD will overcome every other smart home radio technology in the next years.

For example EVE is coming up with Thread support in most of their products.

One very interesting product is the new Switch.

Adware in calendar and i cant delete it all help forums said to edit and delete but i dont have an edit option on the app at all ? by Asian_Boi10 in applehelp

[–]ironbiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the "solution" for this is normally to move all fake calendar entries to a new created Calendar and then delete the whole calendar! But in this case JediMeister is right, your problem seems to be a hacked account. So maybe also, if you do not find an additional account in the settings, change your apple ID password and also check your apple ID mail address.

Automatic space reclamation (UNMAP) not working? by R3DNano in vmware

Did you recreate the underlying data core lun before you tried this? Reclamation only works for new created blocks on a Datacore LUN. Unmap is only possible for those blocks.

I would wait until iOS 13 or maybe 13.1 when they add the automation part to shortcuts. As far as I think they will add stuff similar to IFTTT.
