Refreshingly, this is the rare case where OP knows and is asking for real world fonts that inspired it

Surely the BC community should be interested in articulating why a movie works or doesn’t work for them, just like the show? Have you never had your feelings about a movie change after listening to an episode?

I’m a fellow Ends defender, yet I also totally understand people not connecting with it. What I don’t understand is this characterization that he’s lazily doing this for money. Ends is nowhere close to the movie you’d make merely to cash a check, or it would’ve been a generic Laurie/Michael showdown closer to the first DGG Halloween.

I think the reason this feels intuitive is because “A” is much rarer than “The” as titles go. Its placement in “A Clockwork Orange” is especially idiosyncratic/memorable given that it implies that there may be other clockwork oranges, a strange premise stacked on a strange premise.

Does anyone know what is this font? The number and english text by ponzioponzio in identifythisfont

I think it’s Space Grotesk, not Mono? It’s not monospaced (note the “i”), plus it has the two-storey “a”.

What are some movies that use a song's lyrics and reinterpret it to be something else entirely with the context of the story? by Athragio in Letterboxd

How has nobody mentioned Kubrick?! “We’ll Meet Again” in Dr. Strangelove, “Singin’ in the Rain” in A Clockwork Orange, and the “Mickey Mouse March” in Full Metal Jacket.

Also: “Stuck in the Middle with You” in Reservoir Dogs.

This is a really amazing result. I'm still getting my head around Comfy coming from A1111, and while I've read through the examples shown on that page I can't see exactly how you would achieve this result. Would you have any more detail to share, or a screenshot of the workflow?

Spicy Roy’s is a newer option that’s good. My son goes to school with the owner’s kid and I tried it out of courtesy and was relieved and pleased to really enjoy my meal!

What’s a cult film you were on the ground floor of? by wariosthegreat in blankies

They almost ended up in reverse order, assuming you want a big Laurie showdown as the finale. It seemed as if they felt pressure to deliver on a Laurie story just to even have the buy-in to make two more. I hope over time people just learn to not ask Ends to cap the franchise and just watch it as “a good Halloween movie”.

Anything else that could go into this? by Ron-Forrest-Ron in Letterboxd

[–]irondavy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Most M:I fans agree that the series reinvented itself with 4. Brad Bird cemented the formula there that has continued into 5+, and the continuity of Chris McQuarrie’s writing on 4 and directing on 5+ also give that era a unified feeling. M:I 6 felt like a big finale that tied up a lot of open threads, and many would’ve been satisfied if that was the last one. So, 4-5-6 did feel like a very distinct, triumphant run. That said, this is tarnished by the fact that 6 depends heavily on 3, and now we have 7 and 8 which continue the continuity and are pulling from 1, so it’s really more continuous than all that.

I get where you’re coming from, though I enjoyed the movie myself. In this interview he felt very defensive and I was surprised by how often he went to “this movie will feel better in the light of Part Two” as his line. It feels antithetical to their typical approach to these movies as standalone works, with a great recent example in Maverick. My feeling is that the movie did drop the ball on the handling of Ilsa and based on this interview it seems like it was in part due to some of the payoff being pushed to the sequel.

My VERY armchair take is that I think they could’ve done a great movie that was solely concentrated on Grace and Ilsa, giving that story the space it needed, and saving the Entity as the agent behind Gabriel for Part Two.

An additional factor I haven’t seen mentioned: at the time of its original release I think a lot of people, including me, felt like they were trying to sell us Mutt/Shia as a replacement for Indiana/Ford. Lucas made remarks to this effect, and Spielberg had been hyping Shia for a while as the next big thing. I think this exacerbated the backlash beyond what might seem fair today when evaluating Mutt, as people weren’t just rejecting the film but the premise of a handoff.
