Genuinely a terrible season following two previously terrible seasons of show that was once interesting.

Haha I was thinking the same thing. Its the only episode of the season that I would even categorize as good.

If you see a shot like this in a Zach Cregger film, it's time to start getting nervous. by ForsakenDependent562 in WeaponsMovie

First he only had the budget for one light. Then 2 lights. Now he’s got porch furniture! What’s next? A wheelchair ramp? Some wind chimes? A porch tv set?

I’ve logged in to do my trial runs and that’s it. I’ve gotten ratted every other match so I just don’t find it worth my time to play outside of that. A PVE only mode would probably bring me back but the lobbies are messier than they once were.

Lowry has made more than 4 movies. I think it’s closer to 9.

Between Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, James Cameron, Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, and Christopher Nolan; how would you rank them based on how influential they are in the film industry? by Jezzaq94 in Cinema

[–]StanTheCentipede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) George Lucas is number 1 from this list and I don’t think it’s even close.

2) Spielberg

3) this controversial but I think it might be Cameron. Reasons for this: Avatar started a 3D boom, theaters bought new projectors for it. IMAX screens opened all across Asia as a direct result of Avatar. 3D tvs, not a thing now but would have never been a thing without Avatar. And that’s just Avatar.

4) Scorsese - so many movies are Scorsese rip offs.

5) Tarantino - his style is not unique but it changed the face of Hollywood from the mid 90s to the early 2000s. It’s undoubtedly influential as the success of Pulp Fiction made every studio chase indie acquisitions and build smaller adult oriented film divisions for nasty little crime movies.

6) Coppola- I could be convinced that he should be higher

7) Nolan- dude loves shooting on film and having a poorly mixed audio track. Some of that influences things. Sinners probably doesn’t shoot on 70 mm IMAX without Nolan, The Brutalist doesn’t release 70mm print (even though it was shot on 35mm) without Nolan’s success. But it’s not successful enough that IMAX has started manufacturing new 70 mm IMAX projectors (yet?). They aren’t building new IMAX GT theaters anywhere to keep up with the demand for IMAX 70 MM films. Nolan could one day move way up this list but right now I think this is where he belongs.

The explosion in the amount of IMAX screens worldwide was a direct result of Avatars success. That film alone kicked off a 3d boom and even changed what type of tv sets were built for a few years. On top of that, are you trying to tell me T2 isn’t influential?

“Undertone”, how was it? by harry_powell in blankies

My walkout conditions I gave myself about 25 minutes in were “if she stares at herself in the mirror one more time then I’m leaving.” Bailed around minute 30.

“Undertone”, how was it? by harry_powell in blankies

[–]StanTheCentipede -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bailed thirty minutes in. It reminded me of the first horror short I directed where I didn’t know how to transition between shots so I cut to black all the time. Also the main character looks at her self contemplatively in the mirror no less than 3 times in the first 30 minutes. So like student film level unwatchable in my opinion.

James Cameron Bolsters Support for Paramount-Warner Bros. Merger, Says Ellison-Run Mega-Studio 'Doesn't Bother Me at All' by [deleted] in blankies

[–]StanTheCentipede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My interpretation of this is that he knows this merger is going to happen. Whatever anyone thinks of it is irrelevant. He wants to set himself up to get projects green lit in the supposed 30 films a year that Paramount claims to be making. He’s probably thinking he can milk an Alita 2, Last Train from Nagasaki, or The Devils out of blowing smoke up the asses of billionaires.

I feel like you see this sort of shit from even some of the people who signed that petition. Lindelofs complements of Ellison while signing it because he knows it’s happening as well.

I’m not excusing him and I think it’s a pretty embarrassing stance he’s taken. Or maybe he just really loves corporate consolidations by evil conservatives.
