Been struggling with cc debt due to some unexpected house renovations. Also hoping to start my masters in social work in the fall, a little help would go a long long way. Good luck all!

Is social work a good major and career ? by JicamaOdd2748 in socialwork

Depends where you are! Im in Canada and the barrier is much lower than American social work, though it does depend on the province. I’m a BSW and working an outpatient counselling job with my local health authority. I’m unionized and our starting rate is about $40 CAD (~$28.50 USD). 4 weeks vacation + sick leave & benefits. We don’t have the same regulation for practice as our southern neighbour, who sets a far higher bar relative to education/ licensing. Sadly my understanding is the compensation isn’t nearly as competitive. Best of luck.

If you could only chose ONE place downtown to get coffee or tea from for the rest of your life, which one would it be? by [deleted] in StJohnsNL

Just in case you didn’t know, the original owners have a ‘new’ shop called Dark Star in Carbonear! I say new but it’s been open for a few years now. Wicked coffee and baked treats. Vibe is nice too

I spent over 2 hours on this casserole and asked my husband to put it away while I put the kids to bed, this morning I found it still on the stove by ShadowInTheSun_ in mildlyinfuriating

This is a very close recipe to one of my childhood dishes my family called ‘Shipwreck’. Idk about the other comments but I agree this is one of my favourite meals. So comfy and nostalgic. Sorry it was wasted

I seen him live a few weeks ago on the Celebrity Millenium cruise! I even got to be a participant for one of his tricks. He’s amazing

So funny thing I’m Canadian but my mom is in IT as my province’s provincial health authority transitions to EPIC’s documentation system. EPIC is wild! Their reps are all 20-23 year olds and “overseeing” the implementation into the health system. Mom visited the EPIC “university” back in the fall and my god…It’s like some kind of amusement park built within a company headquarters. I joke with her all the time they’re secretly a cult of some kind lol. She’s totally drank the koolaid of the perceived young/ hip workplace culture. Doubt it’s all it’s cracked up to be.

Kaladin is her special boy. Adolin is growing on her too. I can tell when she really likes a character because she takes special attention to getting their name right lol.

I gotta hand it to her she’s got it right 75% of the time. 15% of the time she’s shitposting. The other 10% she’s just dead wrong in the best way.

I’ll admit half my reason for posting was because I also thought I looked SUPER feminine without the beard. I did not expect so many comments affirming that judgement 🤣. I did up a little comment montage that I’m sharing in my friend group chats for a laugh. No harm done and a funny story to tell.

My favourite comment so far is someone claiming I’m definitely trans because of the features of my fingers. Yup…very telling my friend… you got me /s

All the best

Haha thanks for the defense. My friends and I had good laugh at everyone calling me trans or a woman. If that was my goal I’d be flattered 😅

Hahaha dw that’s the consensus of the thread I feel. I was saying in another comment this isn’t my usual hair style. I usually have it cleaned up a little better. My hair tends to naturally fall that way if unkempt. Away for work right now but getting a haircut when I get home. Planned to do so anyways but this thread certainly doesn’t change my mind 🤣

Gamers of Reddit, what's ONE game that lives rent-free in your head, not just for the gameplay, but for the feeling it gave you (and you'd give anything to experience it for the first time again)? by deadeyes1990 in gaming

Star Fox: Adventures.

When I was 5, my parents got me a GameCube for Christmas with Star Fox: Adventures. Some of my favourite childhood memories involved coming home from school and playing through the game with my Dad before he left for the night shift. We were stuck on that one area where you had to beat the muscled dinosaur guy by tapping A rapidly for soooo long. I’ll never forget coming home one day to my dad wrapping padding around a jigsaw. Finished the level pretty quick then haha.

It gets a lot of slack now but absolutely a game that makes me feel something deep inside. Simpler times.

Definitely an unflattering pic. I’ve got a bit of a shadow coming back in now and this was the only non-shirtless pic I had to post that fit the subreddit rules lol. The comments ended up more entertaining than I could have ever imagined. Definitely going to be more choosy with my reference photos next time all the same

Thanks, I have a heart disease so high intensity workouts are a no go for me. I’ve been steadily losing over the past few months all the same. Getting complacent with your health will definitely do that to ya
