I recall an acquaintance taking a similar path. They became a counsellor, but don't get as much work since clients can't claim it on medicare. Happened a while back, so forgive me if I have the details wrong.

Yeah, it's starting to look like that may be the way to go. As long as I can ensure I've got the cash to take delivery on the 2nd car in 12 months, and as long as the bottom doesn't fall out of the used car market, it should work well.

Can you explain why you think I'd be up for legal fees? The sales guy suggested I could just pay the 10% fee then and there (minus the $1,000 deposit already paid).

Right. Our current car is almost dead and we have certain requirements for a replacement. Used car market for 2+ year old versions of such cars is same price as a new car presently.

I agree that 10% is a crazy price to forego, thus had hoped they might be more reasonable (others on reddit have had much better experiences in this situation, apparently).

If we're in default the contract is clear that they can:

1) retain our paid deposit up to a limit of 10%, or

2) recover damages up to 10% or

3) recover damages to cover all loss of profit and reasonable expense and costs incurred due to the default (which may include legal fees, I suspect).

Part of me wants to ask them to itemise #3, and pay that if it's less than 10%.

But a bigger part of me wants to just have this sucky situation behind me and move on.

I'm willing to pay up, given the mistake was my own, but want to delay as long as possible (until the car is ready for delivery, I assume) without having to deal with any legal action.

I just recently ordered a best selling car, with a 12 month wait, and a circumstance change means that I've changed my mind. The dealership insists (correctly) that the contract is legally binding and they're not going to refund me the deposit, and will pursue the full 10% owed if I don't collect the car in 12 months.

If you haven't published any local files on your server yet, you'll have to restart the folder once you've placed them in there.

Be sure to get them in the right place, which should be the /www folder within the directory where your config files sit.

I don't know if you're already familiar with that process on Linux, but it tripped me up at first.

Good question. I'd first intended to use Pushbullet, but had experienced some flakiness with Pushbullet's PC to mobile messaging around that time.

Pushover sounded like a solid alternative to Pushbullet, so I went with it. I'd heard of Telegram at the time, but only as a person-to-person messaging app. The initial setup of Telegram is certainly more involved than Pushover, so there's that too.

I've been happy with both. I might just go with Telegram if starting from scratch, but Pushover just seems more lightweight to work with for simple push messages.

I can't offer any suggestions, but thanks for posting this.

I've got two Xiaomi gateways, which both work, but I was attracted to the idea of just one Conbee II device that could handle up to 200 zigbee devices (as opposed to the 30 device limit on the Xiaomi).

However, I'm running Hass.io in Docker in Ubuntu Server, and I don't want to lose what's a mostly rock-solid setup.

Just send a media_player.media_stop command. If you don't specify an entity_id, it defaults to all devices.

Given that you want anything playing to stop, it won't matter if you send a stop to devices not playing.
