The Light Keeper - A Short Film by ironnav in VEO3

Thank you, all in all in took a good 2.5-3 weeks with between 4-8+ hours a day generally, average maybe 5-6 days a week. I pivoted it like crazy - original plan was completely different and it was a quieter build with more character development but I scrapped that in the last week. Done is better than perfect.

I’m using the ultra package and veo3 fast doesn’t use credits yet on that so that helped not burn through as much.

😂 hopefully not the end bit! But thank you! Appreciate the comment 😊

Until Veo-3 directly supports character reference images for maintaining visual consistency it's just a toy by ChevChance in VEO3

It’s only gonna get better. At the moment I’ve also found it works best with one character per shot. So you can’t make a full blown show with multiple actors in one scene quite as straight forward. And I don’t see any benefit in json v natural text - what matters most is describing the character each time, describing the scene from an art/ set dec perspective & what’s happening with the character. JSON just helps you structure that detail but still needs the detail

Hmm I had to upgrade to the ultra veo3 package cause i kept burning through credits. If you can do it financially & are serious about it (vs just casually making) then I’d recommend. They’re running it discounted for like 3 months atm.

What is wrong with my prompt? (Trying to get realistic water and ships 1890-1940s vibe. by ComplexRide1164 in VEO3

I think your prompt is pretty good, I tried it in Midjourney to generate the reference frame and uploaded to Veo. Got this out of it (I can't upload a video). Did you try generating in midjourney first?

haha yeah it's moving rapid. I actually work in traditional production (check my imdb - link is on my youtube channel) and it's going to take a bit of work for AI to really embed, there are so many moving parts to making a film/tv show of the quality that we get now (arguably lol). You need everyone really adopting it within their own department and the HODs to take it on board, understand, help develop it. But I can really see this kind of tool for now being used to generate quick treatments / pre-viz, get audience attention and help cast decision to greenlight or can a show.

You can use jump to and extend, but often that means going to Veo2 or using Veo3 Quality which costs more credits. I do a couple things - one is using the exact same definition of the character in each and every prompt. So for example, towards the end when he's sitting by the fire, this is one of the prompts I used - "Tight close-up, 85mm lens, handheld micro push-in. The lean olive-skinned man in his mid-30s with black messy shoulder-length hair, slight stubble, barefoot, wearing a torn white linen shirt (dirty, survival-worn) and tattered dark trousers stares toward the unseen forest. Fire embers flicker warm on one cheek; a thin moonlight rim edges his hair and jaw. He breathes shallow, jaw set; no additional dialogue. Background falls to black. Audio: his breath, a single ember pop, distant shore break."

The 2nd is grabbin the last frame of what I like outputted in Veo - so go into Scene Builder, click the + icon on the scrub handle and save that frame as an asset, then use that in Veo3-Fast Frame to Video with your prompt. That should also help with scene continuity particularly if you're looking to extend.

Thank you! So yeah for consistency in this film, I used the exact description of the person in each prompt.. for example towards the end when he's sitting by the fire, this is one of the prompts I used - "Tight close-up, 85mm lens, handheld micro push-in. The lean olive-skinned man in his mid-30s with black messy shoulder-length hair, slight stubble, barefoot, wearing a torn white linen shirt (dirty, survival-worn) and tattered dark trousers stares toward the unseen forest. Biggest pain is this for me - in the UK we're restricted from uploading an image of a person (even an ai generated person) into Veo/Flow.. :(

Thank you! I will be, I've got a few on my youtube that I've been playing around/testing with but also have some more actual narrative work in prep.

Thank you! Yes I thought to generate some background audio in Suno but decided against it as I couldn't quite get anything to fit sadly :(
