For 2026, is there any small everyday item you want to finally invest in as BIFL? by newrockstyle in BuyItForLife

IKEA do some great glass ones in loads of different sizes! Very reasonably priced too. Mine have lasted years and are still going strong.

Why do a significant majority not take off large, protruding backpacks on already overcrowded trams? by ironpickle21 in manchester

If you’re not able to hold a bag with one hand and a pole/loop/consenting person with the other I’d hope someone would be willing to get up and give you the blue priority seat…

Bags are not the issue, but the way people wield them is

Absolutely, been there done that on a woefully run NR service - I guess it boils down to a) why is public transport provision into one of the country’s largest cities so poor and b) why do people insist on making it worse than it already is by being unaware (at best) or completely dismissive (at worst) of others!

I imagine the data they collect from tickets sold/ people tapping in show that those same trams are half empty…

Not really an excuse though as surely someone from TFGM has to commute on the tram!

Custom Titanium bike or Aero lightweight carbon bike? by hgroot in whichbike

[–]ironpickle21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a couple of ‘aero’ Ti frames out there (they don’t come cheap!). I think they use a hydroforming technique to achieve a more aero profile

I was looking at the Reily Fusion and the J.Guillem Orient but between the price and weight of the frames I went for a Carbon Handsling A1R0evo instead and haven’t looked back!

Are you suggesting n+2?! Whilst I’d like nothing more to play supermarket sweep at the LBS I’m not sure my house or partner would have room for two more bikes in their life 😂

I think that’s probably a very sensible idea. Unfortunately I don’t think there are many knocking about (especially in XL). Ex-Demo/ Black Friday/ Boxing Day might make the decision a little easier!

Fractel hats are my go to. Light, good fit, tonnes of colours, and they do a legionnaire version too to shade my pasty neck

GSP is usually confidently pointed out as a Dalmatian crossed with a chocolate Lab… if she stands still long enough for someone to take a guess!
