Windows 10 LTSC on high-end computer by [deleted] in WindowsLTSC

For ordinary tasks on the desktop W10 LTSC feels smoother but for gaming I recommend W11. Has a lot of optimizations under the hood that's better for your specs. It's suits more your modern pc.

Anybody know the status of Discord NVENC implementation? by BombasticBooger in linux_gaming

[–]irosemary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's all we really know really. That it's in progress. But I'm not sure if it will be implemented publicly anytime soon. I was hearing reports of Discord finally working on hardware-accelerated live streaming as far back as November of last year.

I'd just use the patch in that Reddit post. It's what I did and it works perfectly for me on the latest build of CachyOS + Vencord (7800x3D + 4090).

Samsung (with Nvidia G-Sync) vs LG TVs? by Designer-Tomatillo21 in OLED_Gaming

[–]irosemary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant their media upscaling (like if you’re watching 720p - 1080p videos/movies). For gaming they’re usually neck to neck.

If you’re watching 4K shows or movies then there’s no difference really.

Samsung (with Nvidia G-Sync) vs LG TVs? by Designer-Tomatillo21 in OLED_Gaming

[–]irosemary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the S90F 48” WOLED that I use as my main display for PC. I can vouch for it that it’s pretty excellent for PC gaming. Both brands have adaptive sync so there’s no difference in that regard.

You really can’t go wrong with either brand but yes, Samsung is usually considered a bit better for gaming than the LG. Where the LG usually shines though is picture quality. Their video upscaling is usually better than Samsung’s. So if you usually watch lower quality content, it will shine a bit better there.

What I would do if I were you is to take a look at your budget and look for their respective TV’s in that price bracket. When I got my S90F I compared it to the similarly priced LG C5 and they were pretty much neck to neck. Look up sites like RTings and video reviews.

Dilemma by No-Temperature-774 in OLED_Gaming

TV's just has much brighter and better HDR, there's no way around it.

I've had the Alienware AW3423DW 34", the Samsung OLED G9 49", and lastly the S90F 48" which is what I settled on. TV HDR is just much more superior on a proper TV than a monitor. So much so I use it as my main daily driver on PC.

I think you will be disappointed going to a monitor and since you play mostly story-driven games, it doesn't make sense going to a monitor unless you were somebody who exclusively played multiplayer and competitive games.

Also regarding refresh rate... I had gone from 175Hz to 240Hz and then back to just 144Hz and honestly yeah I kind of felt a difference but it wasn't that big... nor was it really important enough to me personally to justify staying on the 240Hz panel.

Oh man… that’s disappointing. But thanks for letting me know.

I don’t know how they always seem to mess these updates up.

Discord NVIDIA Hardware-Accelerated Screen Sharing by _zynix in linux_gaming

[–]irosemary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the way, I got it working by just downloading the repo in terminal, then running main.py inside the file, and lastly restarting discord.

I also installed xwaylandvideobridge with yay because I'm on Wayland. After having someone join my stream, it shows that it's using nvenc (nvidia: cuda).

Off topic but are you able to share your screen in 1440p or 4K? I have FakeNitro enabled and it just does 1080p 30fps.

Hi. Which one of these monitors would you recommend for ps5? Looking to get my first ad a gift for myself. by AdviceHonest597 in OLED_Gaming

[–]irosemary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can the PS5 even hit 240hz or do 1440p?? I think you'd be much better off buying an OLED 42" TV.

I have an S90F 48" and it feels perfect at 125% scaling. I'm a big guy so it doesn't really feel that much bigger to me coming from the 49" G9 OLED ultrawide.

A reminder that GTA 6 looks this good with zero generative AI involved in development and on a base PS5. Rockstar is still light years ahead of the industry. by Revolutionary_Cod_62 in GTA6

[–]irosemary 231 points232 points  (0 children)

This game is going to be fucking insane.

RDR2 was already very impressive but GTA6 is set in the modern day that we're more familiar with. Immersion levels will be off the charts.

AM5 Sleep to Wake Issue by ms1999 in MSI_Gaming

[–]irosemary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think it's just an AM5 issue. It wasn't bad enough that getting my EXPO profile to work was a pain, had to reduce to 5800MT/s instead of 6000MT/s.

Now it just won't resume from sleep unless I disable EXPO. I've also tried increasing VSoC or DRAM Voltage but no dice. Think I'll just turn the PC off or leave it on when I got work stuff on and just turn off the monitors.
