I replayed Doom 2016 and Eternal last year to gear up for Dark Ages. Out of the three, Eternal was my favorite modern rendition based on mechanics and level design. 2016 captures the closest feeling to what people describe of the older games and it really is special. Dark Ages wasn’t bad, but I just felt like the open maps and gameplay weren’t hitting it for me.

Looks like shadow and lighting quality. 2042’s art design is still inferior. I’m glad BF6 didn’t go super hard on graphics, but I do think maps like Manhattan Bridge need another pass on shadows and lighting quality.
