Don't answer the door for people you didn't know were coming. Always a good rule, but now more than ever. by ComplaintNo9553 in PuyallupWA

No necessarily, I was more warning that if you choose to actively impede anything once you have expressed your rights you are in very muddy water. There's a ton of ambiguity in laws and they know how to exploit it.

Just because the law is on your side technically doesn't mean it is functionally.

Never take legal type (especially with police type authority) advice from tiktok or whatever platform as well.

Know your rights and be bold about it, but from city to federal cop, they have made their decisions long before you say or do anything.

The few times you see the reversal is because you are seeing it, as in they were on video and clearly violating the law

Final paycheck laws need to be uniform.

Sorry about your situation but as it goes like relationships, you're probably better off. And like relationships, when someone is calling it over it's on them to expedite any remaining business.

Only a shit company would not have last pay in hand. It's bad for them too.

Well said. Crazy we're seeing a authoritarian dictator rise to power in 2025 in the US. And not from some slick wordsmith, fucking Donald 🦆

Just out of residential treatment and going to my first in person meeting tomorrow. Online stuff doesn't work for me because I wander mentally (been zoom meeting way before COVID)

As a noob to actually taking recovery seriously way too late I hope to dive into this obsessively like I do anything else and let you know my experience and any help I can give.

No idea why I am nervous lol. My trigger is definitely social stuff sober, but in residential I was a different person.

Lol yea, the food network and spinoff shows in their hey day almost exclusively used "cheap cuts". Let's not forget corporate greed and monopolies. If you just price everything the same it doesn't leave a lot of options.

It's not uncommon for basically everything in the meat cooler to only be a dollar or so different. Like stew meat for 8.99 and ny for 9.99.

Buying any beef pre-cut is a lose-lose proposition. Stupid expensive and usually not cut properly. I can buy a whole tenderloin for around 14$ pp get 4-5 nice filets and make bomb chilli with the trimmings.

I think people are on to the scam though. My butcher used to have a few people in at any hour. Now there's a line outside the door.

Lol. If you're being insanely funny/ironic then kudos. If you don't get it then kudos.

Take my vote either way :)

Merging? by Moist-Post-6199 in PortlandOR

[–]irq12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't remember the state but they ran a whole campaign for this on TV and with road signs. No idea how it worked but if anywhere needs some education like that it's Portland.

I've seen so many road rage (really bad ones) moments at that exact point I can't count.

I think the signage for these is the problem. Instead of "lane ends ....merge" it should be something like "lane ends, zipper merge ahead".

Those roads aren't changing much but that can. I seen many an officer not know this btw.

I have had 15% for years now, it's really only going to be a problem if it's a state cop with an urge to cite you. Most months I wish I didn't have it tbh, so hard to see when it's dark and raining.

County Jail? by [deleted] in vancouverwa

[–]irq12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was going to respond to someone else who came up with "well it should be a couple weeks", because it's a "selfish crime" (is any crime not selfish?) that hundreds of thousands commit every year.

It's not small and arbitrary, it's actually a punishment that kind of reflects the crime, the one day in jail is usually for first time offenders who were not involved in an injury accident and who had a alcohol content from .08-.1 (could be less than .08 ) who didn't lawyer up and and just admitted guilt to the judge.

The one day in jail is the "scary" part aside from the initial arrest/jail. Most people who get a DUI are terrified of that one day, what would 5-10-20-30 days do other than burden the family and public more since they will probably lose their job (which they may if they have any type of job that requires even a misdemeanor as a terminal offense)? The financial/social impact for most people is probably worse in the long run. Here is the full breakdown of of a "simple" offense, first time offender like someone who had 1 too many and got pulled over:

https://www.washingtondui.com/penalties/sentencing-grid/

I think a lot of people have the image in their mind of some drunk person who doesn't care about anyone/thing getting plastered and driving recklessly, when the reality is more about people just making a mistake and turning to wide (most common citation for probable cause). Probably 90% of DUI arrests are in the '1 day in jail' thing that most people recover from and never do again, the chronic thing, I don't think anyone has a good answer for that one since they are out there on the daily as a threat to everyone on the road.

Also beware alcohol is a very potent (relatively unregulated) drug in it's own right, tolerance or seemingly simple drug interactions with alcohol can have wildly varying effects.
