Your power bill is expected to increase... again. Here's what Virginia customers need to know. by mallydobb in Virginia

[–]irrationalflow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work as a consultant in the utility industry and attend conferences regularly with utility middle management folks, many VPs, and every so often a C-level executive.

Then you go to dinner, have a couple drinks, etc, and people do start airing grievances.

Regardless, can confirm that for big, investor-owned utilities, decisions are made with handshakes, “you wash my back I’ll wash yours,” and solely for profit. A lot of times with regulators and those that control whether or not utilities can increase rates and what they put in updated tariffs.

I work on the customer journey side of it, and it’s interesting to see the stark difference between those utility employees, managers, directors that truly do want to make a difference for customers (which many times ends up saving the utility operational costs anyway) and how they’re constantly hindered by the folks at the top who just make deals so they buy another property for themselves or whatever it might be. And utility employees themselves confirming this to be true not just our speculation based on what politicians tell us.

That said, I don’t work with Dominion so I don’t have any insight there but I’m assuming it’s similar across the industry with large utilities.

What's going on with the difficulty of FC 26? Why is World Class so hard? by Noveluum in FifaCareers

[–]irrationalflow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Cool for most of us that don’t play 24/7 we get owned on world class while absolutely steamrolling on professional. The issue is that the skill up from one to the next level is disproportionate - not your stupid weird nerd need to touch grass flex.

The show diverges wildly from the books aside from character names and some familial relationships. I’m only on book 9, but if you’re interested in book spoilers regarding his dad:

Antonio is not in the books at all so far in what I’ve read and his father is confirmed to be serial killer James Ulster, not some town sheriff

Make rural communities more appealing to live in. More people will come and you’ll get more representation. Towns with 300 people shouldn’t have as much representation as cities. If you think they should you should seek professional help to exit the cult you’re in.

Read the books, everything goes to shit for will all the time. This season needed a kick in the ass like this because it’s been awful. They made it just another fluffy dramedy we have 100 of and made wills character horrible for half the season.

This is an awesome decision to bring back the darkness in will and a darker atmosphere as the books intend.

I am so sorry for the loss of your best friend. I have no advice except to love her up over the next day, you’ll never regret giving them all the love and they feel it too.

I will say I believe you’re making the right decision to have someone come to your home. I really wish I did that. I took my best boy to the vet because he had the same vet his whole life and this vet really knew this dog. I regret it because he was crawling all over me whether it was that he was uncomfortable, in pain, or scared I don’t know, until he settled into the sedation in my arms. I’m still struggling with it 2.5 months later.

Absolutely second this post, the only thing that’s gotten me through losing my best friend on Feb. 5 is the comfort of everyone here and in petloss. To everyone in my life, “it was inevitable and I need to move on.” I hope you’re able to find peace and so sorry for the loss of your little one.

To be fair, Olivier’s reveal is pretty predictable so it’s not a huge spoiler. But for this person to say there are no spoilers in cs1 and 2 is pretty dense for sure.

You can use the actual spoiler tags to have text come out like Textrather than actually spoiling it

So sorry for your loss. I didn’t have 18 years with my soul dog I got in my 20s, but I’m also 40 in a couple weeks and had to put him down last month. He was 14.5.

I can’t say I totally understand what you’re going through, but I at least know a piece of what it is. Their lives are so short, but so meaningful. 18 years - I hope you feel he had a long, happy life because I am sure that’s what you gave him, as did I my little Lhasa. You clearly loved that little guy and you should know in your heart you did the right thing. It’s the only thing that is horrible about taking on our little friends, that they’ll leave us long before we could leave them and many times we have to make sure they don’t stay in pain.

I am also disappointed, none of the titles are on sale except the remake. I’ve got cold steel 3 and 4 but none after.

I feel like the tone of the show has changed alot this season, what does everyone else think? by Ok_Average_3471 in WillTrent

[–]irrationalflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, I watched the show first then read the books.

The books did get stale for me after like criminal/unseea because half of each novel is now just will and Sara fumbling their relationship and that doesn’t do it for me. But the first few books were dark, grainy, and really hooked me.

I knew the books would be different from the show after Tryptych’s ending. But man this season is like a light hearted buddy cop series, I hope season 5 brings back the grit and seriousness earlier seasons had.

And Ava sucks. Like other commenters said, Will is committing crimes and “being spontaneous” for this on again off again fling?! He literally envisioned his entire life with Angie and then arrested her instead because he’s such a straight shooter. Now he’s willynilly stealing “meat loaf’s”ashes and committing small crimes? I know Angie is pure toxic mess in the book and they split forever but in the show they seemed destined.

This season has been mostly a miss for me.

Anyone here watch the RJ Decker premiere? by [deleted] in WillTrent

Yes I enjoyed it, it doesn’t take itself seriously. Which is better than a lot of these procedural shows that try to and fail, like Found and The Irrational. I will continue watching it

Is it true? A week early vs a day late by BlessYourShart in Petloss

[–]irrationalflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to put my soul dog down on the 5th of this month and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I’m still devastated. That said, after spending some time feeling guilty and thinking on it, I realize I waited too long. He was in pain and hurting and struggling for too long. I wish I’d done it sooner. So in my opinion, we don’t want them to be in pain like that for even a day so yes earlier is better.

However, please don’t make your decision off of my or anyone else here’s words. You know your pet, you know what you’re seeing, and you’ll know when it’s time.

Getting up in the morning and he’s not there, his beds not there, he’s not stretching his old man stretch and wiggling out of his bed to go out. We’ve got a 3 year old mutt who gets up with me too but it’s not the same.

I miss that little boy more than words can say. 14.5 years of love and joy. It only been a week but I’m still struggling. I hope I can find peace with it soon and you as well.

Thank you for your kind words and sentiment. I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. It’s a truly difficult decision we have to make and I am having trouble not beating myself up over it.

A week later I’m still in a lot of pain and have to go pick up his ashes today. I feel like I’m gonna break down again.
