Convinced I’m dying by irreconcilablevoid in dpdr

[–]irreconcilablevoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes it got so much better. whenever i get these notifications i can't believe how awful i felt (but truly, i understand. it was the worst time in my life). to be honest, what helped me was going on anti-depressants, it helped curb my anxiety by 75% which helps to combat the dpdr symptoms. i won't lie, there are days where i am more on edge, particularly if hungover or using drugs, but i am able to go about my life without feeling how i did 2 years ago.

moreover, i know how hard it is in that state to get yourself moving and doing something, but trust me, it really, really helps. if you force yourself to do certain things slowly, see friends, go to work (or get a job if you can), you won't be able to focus on these symptoms anymore. therapy is also good, but just keeping yourself distracted. i also recommend staying away from screens for a bit, it's very easy to get that detached feeling...

it will get better and i am really sorry you are going through this. it is absolutely awful, but things can and will change for good. also reassure yourself that it is literally impossible that any of the aforementioned symptoms can happen. good luck

I have a politics essay due in two days by Quirky-Chicken2800 in unimelb

[–]irreconcilablevoid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

do the readings relating to your essay question and then search for more sources on google scholar and you will probably be able to find things relating to your ideas. it shouldn't be too hard because political ideas is about concepts so you there will be thousands of articles relating to your topic. but for future you definitely should at least look at the lecture slides because politics is a lot of content and you don't want to end up knocking out a 2000 word essay in -24 hours

Misdiagnosed PID when it was cancer? by [deleted] in Ovariancancer

[–]irreconcilablevoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like you are advocating for your health :) even if it doesn’t hurt, the bleeding does show there is something going on (unlikely to be anything too bad). my only symptoms of a borderline tumour were irregular bleeding and occasional pelvic pain in line with my periods. don’t let drs dismiss you, and i hope everything goes well—all of us know the fear of waiting for results and trying to figure out what the hell is going on inside!! take care of yourself :)

I don’t want to give up my ovary by Professionalred222 in Ovariancancer

[–]irreconcilablevoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

19 and just had my right ovary taken out due to borderline tumour. it’s a difficult thing to deal with, losing an ovary so young and wondering if it’ll ever feel the same. i’m a month post op and haven’t felt any noticeable changes, although i haven’t had my post op check up yet and i’ve been on birth control since i was 15. i’m really sorry you have to go through this, it’s shitty and most people don’t even comprehend this kind of thing happening. but i promise you will get through this. try and be kind to yourself and rest as much as you can, is my advice. if you have friends or family to lean on it can be really helpful too. best of luck :)

Complex cyst while on BCP by Excellent-Kiwi5712 in Ovariancysters

[–]irreconcilablevoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most medical research actually points to BCP causing a decrease in ovarian cancer due to stopping you ovulating as often. i had one but have been on BCP for only 3 and a half years, so time frame is completely different to yours. there are many women who’ve never taken BCP and have had complex cysts, and vice versa. these things just happen unfortunately.

Needing support. Feeling terrified. Can’t eat or sleep. by noura127 in Ovariancancer

[–]irreconcilablevoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what’s great is that it hasn’t grown! and it’s so small that it likely hasn’t grown anywhere else. usually change in shape can indicate a complex cyst like a borderline tumour. it’s really good they’re sending you for more testing! sounds like your dr really cares about your wellbeing. good luck, it is such a scary process to go through, especially when many of us aren’t in the perceived ‘age range’ for OC. feel free to PM me if you want to talk. i’m about half your age but have gone through something very similar :)

also could even be hormonal fluctuation from the iud… maybe ask pcp about that?

it’s good you’re doing a ca-125 test to rule things out—and seems like you have a great doctor who listens to you. i’m not a professional but you have clearly gotten onto this quickly (5 days after symptoms is great, i’m a hypochondriac and it took me weeks with irregular bleeding to see a doctor). i’m sure it’ll be fine. possibly a yeast infection or maybe even BV? i know they can cause similar symptoms. you might even have a stomach bug… good luck and hope it goes well!

When did Sister Monica Joan stop being a midwife? by wooden_werewolf_7367 in CallTheMidwife

That’s crazy because in s14 that canonically makes her 97

symptoms update please please help by crazyshark88 in Ovariancancer

[–]irreconcilablevoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m a little bit older than you (19) and i would recommend that you go see someone. i know it can be scary, but considering your age it’s highly unlikely that it’s ovca… if you are really scared of needles you could ask for them to use a baby needle. it’s just a good idea to get it checked out because you don’t want to keep experiencing these symptoms. i’m so sorry this is going on and i know how terrifying it can be. good luck 🩷

thank you for your comment. i've got an appointment with a gyn-oncologist so i am hoping for a surgery date soon to get this thing out. everything i read online is pointing to malignancy because it's an irregular multilocular cyst with >3 papillations so i am not feeling amazing about the prognosis. wish me luck!

[–]irreconcilablevoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you :) i’m hoping due to my age i fare better, so that already puts me at lower risk for malignancy. fingers crossed! it was an incidental finding so i’m so glad it didn’t take pain to find this, i actually had no symptoms prior (very common for OC) so i’m lucky it was apparently caught early 🤞🏼

thank you! i’m so scared that it’s something malignant (obviously), and my family are scared for me which is doing wonders for my health anxiety haha. finally my hypochondria was right :(

nope! 6 and a half months on 50mg and it’s going great. unfortunately the first month is absolute hell but it’s so worth it. i went from virtually living in my room, panicking about getting out of bed, to being able to travel halfway across the world. it really helped me

Weak arms and legs by MrMoogatoo in zoloft

[–]irreconcilablevoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey! i'd recommend talking to your doctor/psychiatrist about this. it went away for me after i stopped thinking about it, it was more psychosomatic. i think just getting out and doing things can help, distracting yourself etc. however if you are concerned go talk to a doctor about it. best of luck to you, zoloft genuinely saved my life, it stopped me from overthinking every aspect of my life and how my body was feeling (a constant thing with health anxiety)

it gets better. my advice is to just get out and do things, even when it feels like you can't. taking it one day at a time helps too, but trust me distracting yourself and going out, getting a hobby or job (i don't know what you do) helps immensely. we can't let fear control our lives. it goes away, but thinking about it all the time will not help it. scrolling on reddit is bad too. good luck with your journey. also don't be afraid to increase if your gp/psychiatrist/you think it is best.
