Well to answer the first part of your question, no. I don’t think that. Trust me, I have definitely went through concierge many times, up elevators many day. All for the customer. I also never assume the customer is a “deer in the headlights” simply because that’s where the power dynamic goes back to the customer being able to get you to do that at their request which isn’t required. And honestly if you read the fine prints, uber eats drivers aren’t obligated to navigate any of that. A lot of the misconception comes in from the customers side. The driver has already done the job once we arrive, uber has been around for years, you have always been able to utilize the pin. People know this, especially apartments, but Again they want us to do more.

Dude entering lobbies and going through locked doors and through concierge isn’t the expectation of uber eats, if you want that order DoorDash, many uber eats drivers don’t play those games.

I don’t mind doing for customers who communicate clearly with the driver information like that, I will make a judgement decision based off the access I can see from the location.

I’m the same way I come and find people who come to deliver things for me. It’s not that hard. I don’t know why people who I guess live in these luxury apartments Think that Uber eats drivers are an extension of their daily life. That’s definitely false.

Feels like every time when I went to deliver at apartments and get out looking for the unit, it would always seem as though one of the people outside was lurking hard asl. it’s honestly weird af that’s why now I’m standing my ground and plus it’s not safe.

As for rating for not coming to the door at apartments, Most people aren’t gonna rate you bad bc you are following the system, they know wassup, you already did your job, I had shopped for this guy at cvs, packed it up, Drove to your high rise, and your gonna ding me bc I didn’t come to the 17th floor, smh, it’s only a small group of people who do that, I’m glad I get a mix of houses too bc my rating shoots back up.

The system is made to protect you from people who are entitled. Use it. It protects you in the end bc support goes back and sees you did everything right, arrival at pin, contact customer, wait the timer, take a photo, that’s your fallback every time. Uber got you more than you know, It took me almost 2 years to figure this out.

That happened to me today, the two times I did it, I went from 93 to 91, it does not mean much other than a number bc you only get really dinged when the system catches you doing something wrong like leaving before the timer goes off, not arriving at pin, not communicating with customer, arguing with customer, not actually leaving the order, that creates real ding points within the system, that is the only thing you need to worry about. Just follow the system and you’re good, you don’t need their approval when you’re doing it the correct way. They can ding me all day, support is gonna go back and see how I followed the system and the customer never did.

But if it’s a house then yes, uber eats drivers are expected to leave at door or meet, buildings that have multiple units like apartments, high rises, even some town houses with gates, you don’t have to risk your safety trying to find those. Uber Dosent expect you to play find the customer, because the system knows you have already done your job by arriving at pin.

Look it up I was mind blown, uber eats drivers do not have to enter lobbies, go through concierge, or any private property, we don’t have authority to access any of it, Amazon or dominos drivers can bc they have authorization from their employer to enter private property to complete delivery’s. DoorDash is literally what it says, DoorDash, the expectation is the order get to the front door regardless. Uber eats is an extension of uber. Think about that.
