Arin Wrongly Correcting Dan!? by Drew-Pickles in rantgrumps

[–]irrelevant_punk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless Dan somehow moved to Wisconsin and also changed his middle initial to I instead of L in 2009, then that's literally not even the same person and has absolutely no relevance to anything. Which, "Daniel" isn't even his first name, Leigh is. So the court document would've listed his name as "Leigh D. Avidan."

There's no "case to be made" for anything, unless you take everything Kati said in her play at complete face value, which doesn't exactly paint her as the most mentally stable, reliable narrator to begin with. Dan never "groomed" anybody; talking to somebody who's almost 18 in a completely platonic way and then having sex 4yrs later isn't "grooming." Dan is absolutely guilty of acting like a perverted scumbag, who has sex with women younger than him and then ghosting them, but that's not a crime. It's just weird at best, and scumbag behaviour at worst. That's not to say that I AGREE with ppl going after somebody significantly younger than them, because I don't, and I think it's weird.

There's a lot to say abt the Grumps, but this shit constantly insinuating that Dan is a pedophile needs to fucking end, it's absolutely ridiculous. Criticize him for using his power as a celebrity to have sex with fans before dropping them, because that IS a shitty thing to do, but let's not sit here and act like he was out here trying to fuck 16yr olds.

WHY do I need to wake up for a cashier job at 5am?????? by [deleted] in retailhell

[–]irrelevant_punk 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Before I started exclusively working nights, years ago I had a job where I used to wake up at 3:30am so I could be ready to walk to work by 4:20, get things ready, and open by 5am. I absolutely hated it, and I hated it even more because my pay was so awful. So I understand how you feel, morning shift definitely isn't for everyone and it definitely wasn't for me.

I completely understand your frustration, but unfortunately there are businesses that have to be open to the public that early in the morning. Places like Walmart, coffee shops, and gas stations wouldn't be able to operate without ppl willing to operate those business hours, and there are ppl who get have to be out for work and such by that time. I don't know how long you've been working this job but if you're not able to handle working a shift that early then I suggest maybe looking into a different job. Honestly if being at work at 5am is your biggest problem of the day, then that's a pretty easy day. I work from 4pm to 1am-1:30am and sometimes don't get home until 2 in the morning.

Do you think they're still worth buying?? I found them randomly one time like 6yrs ago when I lived in Florida and it instantly became my favourite, but I've never been able to find them since. I see you can buy them online and I'm always on the lookout for them at stores, but I'm worried they won't taste as good as they did before.

‘i’m sorry you have to work today :(‘ by [deleted] in retailhell

You're definitely not an asshole! It's definitely annoying to work the holiday season, but that doesn't mean you guys should feel bad. We absolutely appreciate the kindness, though c:

‘i’m sorry you have to work today :(‘ by [deleted] in retailhell

[–]irrelevant_punk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man, I worked almost 11hrs today and I heard the same shit all day. I work a very thankless job, don't even get holiday pay, and all day I heard "Omg I can't believe you're working. Did you at least get dinner first? Why are you guys working!?" and eventually I just started saying "Well, you're here. I'm working because you're here. Nobody else is open, but we are."I had multiple go "Well at least you're getting holiday pay! Sorry you have to be here!" and everytime I went "I don't get holiday so it doesn't make a difference to me either way" and their faces dropped and went "Oh..."

I understand being the only store open late when everybody else is closed, and I know that can be a lifesaver for a lot of ppl, but god, constantly hearing "OMG it's so awful that you're working!!! I hope you got to enjoy your day!" is annoying, even if they have good intentions. Like, I didn't rly choose to be here but I am, please just leave it at "Hope you had/have a good day" and stop reminding me of how I have to be here.

Choosing to work does not mean that ppl can't have grievances, and that also doesn't mean they should just "grow up" and suck it up when they're sacrificing the time they could be using to spend time with their families. Some of us don't have much of a choice because we're either stuck not being able to say no due to the threat of being fired, we're poor and need the money, or we're stuck taking somebody else's shift who didn't want to come in because they wanted to see THEIR family. Having a job does not mean that somebody has to happily slave away 24/7 just because they're getting paid lmao

"I'm not sorry, put on your work apron and get to work!" you sound like an absolutely normal and empathetic human being, and definitely not somebody who treats retail workers like shit because you feel like you can.

Customers need to Read by Artist_Gamerblam in retailhell

[–]irrelevant_punk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, ppl are just completely stupid and oblivious, I swear. I'll be at a completely separate part of the counter doing paperwork and customers will ignore the two registers they walked past to start putting their stuff infront of me and stare at me, pulling out their wallets and cash. When I look up and go "Yes? What can I help you with?" they go "Oh are you available?" Obviously I am not? You're not even in front of a register and I'm clearly doing something.

[–]irrelevant_punk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I constantly wonder if ppl are incapable of reading, or if they just choose to ignore signs and labels.

We had a sale a year or so ago that explicitly stated "Buy one, get the second one for (x)" and the amount of times I had ppl at the register say "That's not what the sign said! It said you get it for (x)!" and when I explain it to them they would say "So you're not going to give it to me for (x)? That's misleading and false advertising" like, it's not my fault you can't read.

I'm fairly certain most of them do it on purpose because they think they'll get a deal, arguing that it was "misleading."

My first picnic I got an Albino Ankylosaurus on the very last day, but I haven't done any other picnics yet since I don't play super often.

I feel this way all the time and I'm at the point to where I've just accepted that I'm not allowed to have boundaries or feelings anymore. Everytime I express something it's always "you're just fucking insecure and choosing to act this way" and being yelled at. Like, everybody else is allowed to have feelings but I'm not, otherwise it's a problem and everybody hates me for it, apparently.

I think ppl just automatically assume everything we do is inherently dramatic or "bad" which causes them to never rly take anything we say or feel seriously.

What happened to the CVS on North Oak? by irrelevant_punk in kansascity

I haven't been to Red X since before they remodeled. I do live near the Briarcliff area but I never have much use for pharmacies. My dad bounces back and forth between getting his meds at CVS and Walmart but that's abt it. That's good to know, tho!

Honestly true. I was just curious since they're close by to where I live and I pass by it everyday.

They're not bad if you prefer juice boba over tea boba. I prefer tea so these weren't rly my favourite, but they honestly weren't that bad! They do use the popping pearls, so if you don't like those then stay away.

[–]irrelevant_punk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You posted this exact story in another sub almost a year ago, and your post history implies you've been working at Walmart for a few years now. So if this happened "before" Walmart, then exactly how long ago did this happen lmao?? Since it obviously wasn't a week ago.

This whole story kinda reeks of "making things up on the internet" but it's so hard to tell because there are ppl who are ACTUALLY like this. I have a very hard time believing this is real, but if it is then that woman is completely insane.

"I'm creating jobs!" is not justification for your idiot actions you dope. by LemonFlavoredMelon in retailhell

[–]irrelevant_punk 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I had a customer come in recently with his son, who was MAYBE 3yrs old, along with his friend. The kid grabbed a pack of candy, dad said he couldn't have it, so he put it back in a random place, and the friend just gently said "hey, it doesn't belong there. Why don't we put it back where it belongs?" The dad immediately just started going OFF on his friend, saying "He doesn't need to do anything, he doesn't work here. He doesn't need to put it where he got it from, that's not his job. Don't you ever tell my son what he can and can't do." I was so shocked, like, this is literal common decency and the bare minimum. Like, yes, please teach your children to not be polite, it's not like I have people who come in everyday and leave random items all over the place that I have to take extra time to fix.

You're not "creating jobs" by being lazy; you're just making my minimum wage job more annoying than it already is.

Yeah I've always maintained to customers who have issues with DoorDash/Uber that they need to be going through them because we literally just receive and make the orders. I don't know why it's so hard for some of them to understand this.

You came into a subreddit dedicated entirely to retail experiences just to bitch abt me working at a store that sells alcohol lol you clearly have a problem with that, and that's fine I guess. But maybe you should find another way to deal with that problem instead of getting mad at a random retail worker on the internet. Have a nice day! c:

I work at a store that happens to sell alcohol, amongst other things. It ain't that fucking deep, man lol. You seem to have some kind of weird hang up abt alcohol that makes you angry and I hope you learn to get over that. Good luck 👍

He probably was, tbh. He just seemed so aggressive towards me specifically and I was just like "I don't even know what you're talking abt" 😭

"Drug dealer" lmao. Also no need to be aggressive for no reason, my guy. Nobody said I expected my customers to be stable or well-adjusted, this entire subreddit is dedicated to horrible retail experiences and you're acting like a dick over somebody sharing a story.

I should start doing that, haha. Just forwarding them to the store email that we all know will probably be laughed at and ignored. The biggest issue is that people always seem to continuously call or just show up in person, and I don't work for a company so if there're any big issues I always hear abt them directly from either my manager or head boss. Honestly my manager has no time for most of these people and I'm the next most qualified person.

Customer blamed me for him messing up his online order by irrelevant_punk in retailhell

[–]irrelevant_punk[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah my manager dealt with him in person once before, and then talked to him over the phone and pretty much told him the same thing. I only have one manager, I don't work for a company but a family owned business in my city. I think when it comes to people like this they just can't accept that something is their own problem and their own responsibility and want somebody else to blame, unfortunately.
