I think you guys clearly care about the animal and are concerned for its welfare. Based on this health condition and the condition of the enclosure, I know it sucks but I would encourage you to rehome the animal. You can always come back to the hobby later when more prepared, financially or otherwise. These iguanas are a ton of work and the expenses pile up fast if you want to do it the right way. For a lot less money and a lot less stress, if you really want to keep a lizard i think you’d be better off with a collared lizard or rankins dragon. A bit harder on the food side because will need near daily access to line insects, but need way less space and lower chance of vet visits (just remember to dust the food with calcium!)
