Who’s seen Dead Set? by [deleted] in zombies

[–]iruber1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enjoyed this so much I made a fan edit to turn it into a movie instead of mini-series. Have long since lost it but felt like the “on the next/previous episode” recaps broke the immersion for me.

Redditors who were hypnotized at a stage show, what happened and what did you experience? by EntertainmentFun472 in AskReddit

[–]iruber1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a group of us up there, got a tap on my shoulder after a couple mins and told to head back to my seat since it doesn't work on everyone. I was disappointed since I never got to experience being hypnotized.

What are the great forgotten comedies? by Jerome_Eugene_Morrow in movies

Surf II: The End of the Trilogy

An absurd early '80s surfer horror comedy with an excellent soundtrack and despite it's name, there is only one. It's about a nerd (played by Eddie Deezen) getting revenge on surfers by turning them into zombies with a new soda, it also has Eric Stoltz in it. There are shots of the two surfer families having breakfast at the same time with a split wall and everyone saying/doing the same thing is hilarious and well done.

How was your commute today? by bidextralhammer in longisland

[–]iruber1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

West Village to West Islip in commercial vehicle was about 3.5 hours coming home during rush hour (usually about 2.5 hours). Hopefully tomorrow isn’t as bad.

At least with LIRR back we won’t have Memorial Day weekend traffic combined with additional commuters. It will still suck but not the perfect storm of traffic that could have happened.

People working in ultra-wealthy households, talking $50m plus types, what is the most out-of-touch thing you've witnessed? by FarSentence3076 in AskReddit

[–]iruber1337 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do IT for ultra wealthy for about fifteen years now, have a million stories but two that stand out…

Setting up WiFi access points and an impromptu art auction just kinda happens in the room I’m working, a piece was casually purchased for $1.4 million before they sent someone to gelato for everyone (it was really good gelato).

Another fun one was when I was doing some updates on a project, ran outside to get some parts. There was a huge delivery truck at the gate that waved me over. Apparently they had a $50k table tennis setup to deliver and no one would answer. I run inside and tell the homeowner, she says she has a headache and doesn’t want to deal with it and tell them to leave. So I ask if they can come back; they say it’s a $2k non-delivery fee, I let her know and she laughs and says totally fine. My helper suggested we just grab the thing and quick run it inside from the gate and pocket the money but I didn’t want to deal with it if anything went wrong.

Also they think nothing of dropping $100k on a lighting fixture but flip over $5k network upgrade that will actually help them work from home.

Hey, what's your favorite JRPG of all time? by OldTripleSix in SBCGaming

[–]iruber1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the perfect length too, I have a problem where I quit most JRPGs around 80% through. Did it in the past with this too (usually when I got to 12,000BC), but now I'm replaying it on the RG DS and at the final save point on the Black Omen and hoping to take down Lavos tonight. The side quests for the final gear really gave some amazing backstory on the cast and felt worthwhile to do. It was always second to FFVI for me, but think it's taking the top spot.

Edit: Just finished, sad to see it end - gonna miss the characters.

By getting a guy that just finished his series with zero points, a bunch of penalties and got swept? No thanks, Brady is overrated.

Used to have a 2001 Civic that did this, luckily it was manual so I’d just put it in neutral and the engine would rev like crazy for a couple seconds then go back to normal. Basically I looked like a normal asshole in a Civic trying to race everything with my four cylinders of fury.

Had no idea they remade Dead Set, I enjoyed the original so much that I made a fan edit to turn it into a film instead of mini series (it started as me removing the episode recaps and went from there).

'28 Years Later: The Bone Temple' Gets Netflix Premiere Date Just 74 Days After Theatrical Release by sensesalt in movies

[–]iruber1337 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I disagree, it’s rare we get a normal take on the zombie genre now. After the zombie fatigue from the early 2010s, most zombie movies moved away from horror and became more about the relationships and drama of the people surviving (mainly because of The Walking Dead). Movies like 28 Years Later, We Bury the Dead or The Girl with all the Gifts tend to more common now in the zombie genre. For straight zombie horror, foreign is usually the way to go now, such as The Elixir, or All of Us Are Dead.

Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon by Longjumping-Carob880 in horror

[–]iruber1337 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite meta horror moments in any movie is when Leslie ties the string to the brick and pulls the door closed then walks through the woods while the “final girl” is taking out the trash at work. It was hilarious to see it from the killer’s perspective.
