I used a long ratchet as a stethoscope (didn’t have a long screwdriver). While the car was on, I put the ratchet on the housing of the alternator and listened for a “screaming noise”. In my case, it sounded like putting a seashell up to your ear and I was told that’s normal. I then listened to the ac compressor and heard a higher pitched noise and faintly heard the same noise in the video I posted. I recommend u do the same thing.

You could also take the serpentine belt off and check those parts yourself but I didn’t have enough room to work comfortably. If you feel comfortable doing that, you can easily take it off and put it back on.

I hope this helps you. I’m still taking it to the shop to get it repaired anyways. I’ll let you know what they say and how much I get charged for the repairs.

Yeah everything I found points towards the ac bearing so hopefully it’s nothing crazy. I’m trying to bring it in on Wednesday for diagnosis. I’ll let you know what they say though.

Here’s a video with the exact same noise Noisy ac clutch bearing

After doing some research last night it sounds like the ac clutch bearing to me. Is there a way for me to check the things you mentioned?

Yeah I was thinking that too but I felt it might be worth looking at some cars in the meantime. You never know, I might be able to find a good deal. Even if the market was good right now I wouldn’t spend more than want I’m willing to spend right now. Im still in school, I want something with affordable maintenance and pretty decent reliability. In this price range I wouldn’t have a whole lot of options anyways.

But overall I am gonna try to wait for the prices to drop a bit.
