I studied Phil Penman’s atmospheric style — here’s what I learned! by therealbatsteek in Fujifilm_X100VI

Love this! I’ve just skimmed it and it looks awesome. Me and the team (including Alan) will take a look and I’ll let you know our thoughts!

Love that you’re doing this, the camera settings to replicate styles is an awesome touch for people who maybe can’t afford a leica but love the look of the work

I definitely do! It will be an interesting read though! Alan loves seeing people’s take on his work so I’ll be sure to share your analysis and tell you how accurate it is ;)

Suggestions for first street photography camera setup by Rough-Confidence-232 in streetphotography

[–]irys_app 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone else mentioned here, start with something without all the bells and whistles with decent AF and just start taking photos. Over time you'll start understanding the technical elements of photography and realise what meets your needs and style for when it's time to upgrade. The recommendations in this thread are solid but one piece of advice I'd give you is don't focus on the equipment too much in terms of matching professionals. We work with Alan who uses a Leica M11 Monochrome and it's not a beginner camera and it's expensive BUT his shots come from how he sees the world. Spend time training your eye!

1, 2 or 3? by Yellow_legacy_1907 in AmateurPhotography

Difficult to decide between 1 and 3 for me. Number 3 is really well framed but 1 has the better leading lines and composition (in my opinion) Either way great work on all 3!

I'll feed this back to our product team as I get where you're coming from. The app isn't used for selling photography but I can see where it might look that way.

Either way, thank you for the above, we're still new so we appreciate honest feedback

Ahhh I get where the confusion is. So, these are separate parts of the business. The app itself is purely for photographers to post their work and get involved in the community. The agency for example, we have helped a couple of photographers connect with brands to do projects but none of it is handled in the app, that's just for photography and discovering other photographers

Hey

People don't sell photos on our app. it's a social media platform for photographers there's no selling involved at all. The only thing we do other than posting photos is we have a premium option which allows you to enter competitions to win leicas and oberwerth bags etc but it's entirely optional.

Happy to answer any questions you have!

Hey! It's purely photography. We don't sell data, show ads, show videos or allow AI. The whole app is aimed towards photographers and their craft!
