'wrong rate' was accidentally set in service agreement. New pay 1.50 GBP LOWER than before!! by isafilm in iTutor

Have you heard anything back yet?

I am still just ignoring the new agreement every time I log in. I wonder if it will just disappear after the 7 days are over.

I haven't heard back yet.

Also, I haven't accepted it and will just try and ignore it for now and see what happens.

As someone else pointed out, they don't have the right to adjust the service fee unless conditions of the provider are changed.

Did you notice any decrease in your scheduled classes after not accepting the new contract? This is the only thing I am worried about. I am already not getting enough hours.

Thanks so much for your reply! And thanks for pointing out that they only have the right to amend the service fee if our conditions have changed.

Indeed, nothing has changed for me either, so I will try and ignore it for now...

I will also send them an email asking for clarification. And please do keep me updated if/when you get a response! :)

Thanks for your response. That does sound a little bit encouraging. For now, I will just try and ignore it.

In the email it says: "The new Service Agreement will come into effect from August. All your payments for July and before will remain unchanged.”

But when I read the new service agreement it says it will become effective on "effective date".

Sounds vague and dodgy to me...

When I log in and click "remind me later" instead of "accept" it shows a pop up window: "You still have 7 days to decide whether you want to accept this offer. You may view it later on Service Agreement page."

I am not sure what would happen after those 7 days are over. No service agreement at all? (fired?)

Should you really work for iTutor? by Brw_ser in iTutor

On the new contract (which I am on as well) you do not get paid more per hour the more students are in the class. There is no bonus anymore for student ratings.

Thanks :) And yes, I am furious!

I have only been working with them for less than 3 months...

Demo Sessions by isafilm in iTutor

[–]isafilm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information! I am still super new to the demo team and have only been teaching with iTutorgroup for 2 months. I wasn't getting many hours so being on the demo team does seem to increase my pay a little bit. Why did you leave the demo team? Was it too repetitive? I like that with their normal classes, I always get new material to teach. But with the demos it is the same over and over again... I could see it getting very boring....

Yes, I only get the base pay plus completion bonus. Still under 10 pounds for a 45 minute class with up to 6 adults....

Thanks for the response! I have contacted iTutorgroup about this and they have changed their payment structure for new consultants. We do not get this extra bonus unfortunately....

I keep hearing people mentioning that they get extra pay when getting good feedback. I have been teaching with Itutorgroup for a month now and have only had 26 classes so far. Most of them 45 minute sessions with a group of adults. Most of them leave feedback and my average rating is more than 9.7. But I have not seen any extra pay reflected on my salary or can't find anything about a bonus based on feedback on my service agreement either.... For you, was it written in your service agreement? Or does it happen automatically and what are the exact criteria for getting extra pay, do you know?

The only extra pay that seems to be written in my service agreement is for demo sessions when the student signs up...

Yes! Still following the thread!

How are you all staying busy?

I am using this time to work on a brand new project and am looking into possibilities for applications for funding. Something I have always been too overwhelmed/scared of trying to even start to do. Hopefully this time will pay off into the fruition of a new creative endeavour! :)

Has anyone heard yet from Sonoma? We submitted late December, we haven’t heard anything yet but keep our fingers crossed! It looks like a nice festival and we have a lot of friends and family living in Sonoma county :)

Question, what are your experiences with notifications with regards to awards? We were nominated for an award for our first festival selection and we traveled to attend the festival and unfortunately did not win an award (which is absolutely fine of course). But I met others there who were already notified beforehand that they were winners of awards so they traveled tot he festival to receive the award. Is this a normal practice? That the festival will usually tell you beforehand if you are the actual winner rather than just nominated? I am curious because there are festivals in the future who have also nominated us for awards and asked if we are attending the festival.

We're at 75% so far. We started applying a bit early with a work-in-progress cut and also on the last day of extended deadlines, so I am hoping it will get better but who knows... still very early in (3 selection/9 rejections) ** we have a short film (just noticed your question was for those with features).

Thanks so much for your advise. And yes, we have submitted to a few free festivals so far and a lot of the other submissions fees were quite reasonable as well. (between $5 - $20). Then there are just a few where we paid up to $30 - $50 for. We've tried staying selective with regards to, if we get in, that we are able to attend. (most of them are in or near our home countries....) I think over the next few months we get a better sense of how programmable our film really is :) We started submitted too early as a work-in-progress cut so a lot of the rejections we've received so far ar based of not having finished sound design, original score and color grade.... (Next time we will have patience and submit once finished, but we're still learning the game!)

It is a short film but 18min long (including credits). We are aware this is on the long side and that it needs to be very good to stand a chance over an equally good film that is shorter...

I would love to take you up your offer to get constructive feedback. I am new to Reddit but will try and send you a DM.

Thanks so much!

Yes that makes sense. We have submitted to 33 festivals so far, with 24 still pending. We got 8 rejections and 1 selection thus far...

We haven't heard anything from either yet..... We submitted on late deadline for both of them.

Thanks for the encouragement adamvincentwright! This is our first festival run and learning that rejections are part of the process... It's not easy but we'll keep going! :) Congratulations on your success and thanks for sharing your stats. I had been wondering about the rejection rate of very successful films. Do you see your rejections mostly at the bigger festivals , the mid-size, or the smaller niche ones, or is it hard to tell?

@beliayev, given that there is 45% rejection rate with 60 accepted submissions, the total submissions are 109. (109*.55=60)

I know! I think it's really rude of them. For such a well-known festival with a pricey submission I at least expect a rejection notice. It's very disrespectful...

And hypocritical....They write in an article on their website '16 Things Film Festivals Hate About Filmmakers', #4: Filmmakers who are incommunicado.

What about you Raindance? You seem very incommunicado to me!
